It’s been a while since the release of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus in 2017, and fans have been eager for a third game to conclude the story. Now, a report from Mp1st suggests that MachineGames, the game’s developer, has begun working on it and is even holding auditions for voice actors. These auditions have seemingly leaked some early details about the game’s plot.
The project, currently known as Valkyrie, is in development with Tom Keegan directing performance and Emily Schweber handling casting. Casting calls indicate a character named Sofiya may be involved, potentially related to BJ Blazkowicz’s mother, Zofia. Performance capture is scheduled to begin in April, with additional sessions planned throughout the rest of this year and into 2027.
So, I’ve been reading about this new character, Sofiya, coming in the game. Apparently, she’s an orphan from Ukraine, probably around 8 to 11 years old. She’s got a dog named Ralph, which is awesome, and he’s going to hang out with BJ. The story says she was raised by the resistance, so she’s super tough and resourceful. It’s not confirmed yet, but it sounds like she might be with BJ for the whole game, acting as a companion. I’m really curious to see how that plays out!
Despite the recent success of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Jerk Gustafsson, the director at MachineGames, has said he’d like to eventually complete the Wolfenstein story arc with a third game.
He stated that the team always planned to return to the Wolfenstein series and complete the story arc begun in previous games. While he wouldn’t say when they might continue the trilogy – whether it’s soon or in the future – he confirmed they haven’t finished with the Wolfenstein universe yet.
Gustafsson also discussed the studio’s background with story-driven, first-person games, and their goal to create innovative future projects while staying true to what they’ve always done.
For a long time, we’ve been making games that are very alike – first-person adventures with strong stories,” explained Gustafsson. “Now, we’re eager to find new ways to innovate and grow within that same genre. I think a mobile game is definitely possible for us, but it would require a different set of skills than we currently have at MachineGames. Perhaps we’ll explore that option down the road, but it’s uncertain at this point.”
Back in January, a report suggested that MachineGames had begun development on Wolfenstein 3. The report also mentioned the studio may be working on a second, separate project – a multiplayer game that some believe is similar to Rainbow Six Siege. It’s currently unclear exactly how similar the two games might be.
