World of Tanks: HEAT is Out Now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S

World of Tanks: HEAT is now available on PC, PlayStation 5 & 6, and Xbox Series X/S. You can also play this free-to-play tank shooter using Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service. A great feature is that you can play with friends on any platform and carry your progress with you! To mark the launch, the game’s developer, Wargaming, has released a new trailer, which you can watch below.

The latest trailer highlights the quick and dynamic action in World of Tanks: HEAT, showing gameplay from different modes where players destroy enemy tanks and complete missions. As previously shown, HEAT offers a more rapid and energetic experience compared to the original World of Tanks.

When the game launches, a special Launch Season begins, offering five weeks of free Battle Passes and five ranks to climb, all with unlockable rewards. Players can immediately choose from three agents: Chopper (a Defender using the M1E1), Kent (an Assault agent with the XM1 90), and Hound (a Marksman who uses the Leo 1A6A1). Throughout the Launch Season, five more agents become available, bringing the total to eight playable characters specializing in three roles: Defender, Assault, and Marksman.

World of Tanks: HEAT lets you choose from 15 different vehicles, each offering unique ways to play thanks to customizable parts and equipment. You can battle it out on 8 varied maps featuring different environments and visuals, and compete in one of four PvP modes: Hardpoint, Control, Kill Confirmed, and Conquest.

Product director Artyom Yantsevich called the launch of HEAT a major achievement, but emphasized that it’s just the first step. He expressed gratitude to both the development team and the players for their contributions, and shared excitement for the future of the game and continued collaboration with the community.

As a World of Tanks: HEAT player, I’ve been really impressed with how it runs on the new consoles! On the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, it defaults to a Performance mode that tries to hit 60 frames per second at 4K resolution. To keep things smooth, the resolution can actually scale down to 1080p if needed. If I want better graphics, there’s a Quality mode that aims for 30 FPS at 4K, but keeps the resolution higher overall. And for those on the Xbox Series S, it’s locked to a smooth 60 FPS at 1080p, which looks great!

Players with the PS5 Pro will have enhanced options thanks to two new modes: Performance Pro and Quality Pro, both utilizing PSSR technology. Performance Pro aims for a smooth 60 frames per second at 4K resolution, and can scale down to 1440p to maintain that speed. Quality Pro prioritizes visual fidelity, targeting 30 FPS with all graphics settings maximized.

To run the game on PC, you’ll need at least an Intel Core i5 4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G processor, 8 GB of memory, and a graphics card like an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (with 2 GB of VRAM), an AMD Radeon RX 560 (2 GB), or an Intel Arc A310 (4 GB). The developers are aiming for a smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution on the lowest settings, and they’ll use technologies like DLSS, XeSS, or FSR to help achieve that, depending on your graphics card.

As a huge fan, I’ve been checking out the recommended specs to really max out the game. If you want to play at 1080p with everything turned up to the highest settings and with upscaling enabled, the developers suggest you’ll need at least an Intel Core i7-8700K or an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor. On the graphics card side, they recommend an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (with 6GB of VRAM), an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (also with 6GB), or an Intel Arc A750 (6GB). And you’ll want 16GB of RAM to make it all run smoothly.
