Xbox Game Now Free for All PlayStation Plus Subscribers

Okay, so there’s this Xbox game from last year that’s totally free for all PlayStation Plus members – that’s everyone, no matter what level of PS Plus you have! You can grab it on both PS4 and PS5 for the whole month of June, and even up until July 7th. After that, it’ll go back to its normal price of $40 on the PlayStation Store. The cool thing is, if you claim it before July 7th, it’s yours to keep forever…as long as you stay subscribed to PS Plus, though. If your subscription lapses, you’ll lose access until you renew it.

The free PlayStation Plus game is Grounded, an adventure released in 2022 by Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox. It spent two years in early access before its full launch. Grounded has been a hit, attracting over 20 million players and leading to the development of a sequel, Grounded 2, which is currently available in early access as of 2025. In addition, an animated series based on the game is also being created.

2022 Xbox Game

I was really excited when Grounded came out in 2022, and it seems like a lot of other people enjoyed it too! It got a solid 83 on Metacritic, which is great considering Obsidian Entertainment is usually known for big RPGs like Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and The Outer Worlds. Plus, PlayStation players really seem to love it – it has a 4.49 out of 5-star rating on the PlayStation Store after over 10,400 reviews! That’s a lot of happy gamers.

In this game, you play as a young adventurer unexpectedly shrunk to the size of an ant! You’ll need to survive in a familiar backyard that now feels like a huge wilderness. Explore the garden on your own or team up with up to three friends online to collect materials, build a safe haven, and craft weapons and armor to defend against the bugs and creatures that live there. As you play, you’ll discover why you shrank and how to get back to normal size.

If you’re trying out this Xbox game because it’s free with PlayStation Plus, be prepared to invest a significant amount of time. You’ll need around 30 hours to finish the main story, 70 hours if you explore the side content, and a full 100 hours for 100% completion. While that’s a lot of gameplay, it’s typical for survival games, which are known for requiring a lot of effort and repetition.
