When Konami first released eFootball, the game that followed the popular PES series, they assured fans that the popular Master League mode would eventually be added.
It disappeared almost five years ago, but it’s back today, though only as part of a week-long event that ends on April 16th. Fans are understandably upset about the limited availability.
Master League Sprint was created to celebrate a major milestone – the game reaching one billion downloads! It’s a challenge that will put your team-building abilities to the test, as you sign players and manage injuries along the way.
Konami is bringing back familiar faces from the classic single-player mode, like Castolo and Minanda, which shows they understand what fans want.
This isn’t the inspiring comeback story fans were hoping for, and people online aren’t reacting well. The limited seven-day availability is only making things worse.
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) expressed disappointment with the recent handling of Master League, stating that the current event feels like a poor imitation of what was once the game’s best feature, and simply uses the name for appearances only.
Perhaps Konami is using this as a trial run for bringing back Master League in the future.
To be honest, it seems unlikely the publisher will focus on single-player content for this game, which is designed as a constantly updated live service.
The truth is, eFootball relies on its random player pack system and selling in-game currency. Because of this, the Master League mode doesn’t offer much financial reward.
The company clearly recognizes the popularity of this trend, and to celebrate, they’re releasing a manga called ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated in PES’, illustrated by Kiminori Wakasugi.
The new story features a main character who is reborn into the world of Master League, a captivating idea! It will be released chapter by chapter on K MANGA, and you can read it either within the game itself or by clicking this link.
