Beyoncé is finally pulling out another freakum dress.

The Grammy-winning artist, who has won 35 awards, will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala. This marks her return to the Met Gala’s famous steps after a decade.

Beyoncé’s first appearance at the Met Gala in 2008 was perfectly suited to the “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” theme. She wore a beautiful, strapless soft pink Armani gown with delicate ruffle details.

Everyone was watching her, and it wasn’t just about her outfit. The appearance came shortly after she secretly married Jay-Z, and they now have three children: 14-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, and 8-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir Carter.

And that evening proved to be one of the best she and stylist Ty Hunter ever had. 

He told Vibe magazine in 2024 that the Armani suit he wore was incredible. It was his first Met Gala, and he felt more like a date than a guest. He described the experience as fantastic, saying it made him want to attend many more Met Galas in the future.

And just like that, it happened. Three years later, Beyoncé wowed everyone at the Met Gala in a black Emilio Pucci gown with a dramatic fishtail hem, paying tribute to the event’s theme honoring Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. This was the first of six stunning looks she would debut at the gala over the years.

One of Beyoncé’s most memorable Met Gala looks was the peach-colored, puffy-sleeved Givenchy latex gown she wore in 2016. This was especially noteworthy because it came out just weeks after she released her album, Lemonade.

Ty remembered telling Vibe that fans were speculating the dress looked bad on Becky because of her skin tone, and there were a lot of rumors surrounding it, mainly because it was such a unique look.

The Texas-born star turned heads at the Met Gala, perfectly capturing the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme with a stunning, see-through, and intricately decorated gown. She finished the look with her hair pulled back into a high ponytail.

 

Beyoncé’s stylist, Ty Hunter, explained to Vibe magazine that it took a lot of effort to help her wear the dress that night because of the heavy Swarovski crystals covering its mesh fabric.

Immediately after releasing her album Lemonade, Beyoncé turned heads at the Met Gala. She wore a striking puff-sleeved latex gown by Givenchy, fitting the night’s theme of “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”
