With April 2026 wrapping up, Netflix is gearing up for its May releases. The platform is bringing back several popular anime titles, including Assassination Classroom and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, which haven’t been available to U.S. viewers until now. April already saw new shows arrive, like the worldwide debut of an anime from the creator of Gintama called Dandelion, and the second season of Dorohedoro. While the full May schedule isn’t finalized, Netflix is promising a great lineup. Just before April ends, Netflix Anime officially announced that Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai will start streaming on May 1st, 2026.
10) Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song
A fantastic sci-fi anime that many people missed when it first came out is coming to Netflix on April 4th, 2026. Originally released in 2021, the series received great reviews but didn’t find a wide audience. It tells the story of Vivy, an AI singer, and her century-long quest to prevent a terrible future and save humanity.
9) Dandelion
I’m so excited about this new anime! It’s based on the very first story by the creator of Gintama, something they made way back 24 years ago! It’s going to be seven episodes long, starting April 16th, and get this – it includes scenes that weren’t even in the original manga! The story centers around Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane, who are basically angels working for a special department dedicated to helping lost spirits find their peace. It sounds really heartwarming and fun!
8) Assassination Classroom
I’m so excited for this new anime based on the popular Shonen Jump manga! Right now, the first season is scheduled to premiere on May 1st, 2026, but the buzz is that we won’t have to wait too long for the next part – definitely before summer hits. Honestly, Assassination Classroom has been a favorite of mine for nearly 11 years, and the fact that the whole story is contained in just two seasons makes it the perfect show to really dive into and enjoy all at once!
