Manga is more popular than ever before. Thanks to things like instant digital releases, it’s easier to read than it used to be, and the quality has also improved. Modern manga often features stunning artwork and compelling stories – it’s a really great time to be a fan.
It’s a fantastic time to be a manga reader, with so many amazing new series coming out. Several recent titles are truly special, quickly becoming defining works for a new generation and showing all the signs of becoming modern classics.
10) WITCHRIV

I recently read WITCHRIV by Hakuri, and it centers around Nona, a young magic user who has to keep her abilities secret because many people fear mages. The story really takes off when Nona’s secret is revealed, and her life gets completely turned upside down. She’s determined to fix things, no matter the cost.
While WITCHRIV already stands out with its fantastic character designs and overall art style, it’s also a compelling story. The series boasts smart action sequences and well-developed characters, making it narratively strong. Having just begun, WITCHRIV has gotten off to a great start, and hopefully it will continue to run for many years.
9) Parashoppers

I’m completely hooked on Tsubasa Fukuchi’s Parashoppers! The story centers around Mitsusada Amaragi, who unexpectedly gets this crazy app called Parashop. It gives you superpowers, but there’s a huge catch – you have to play these incredibly dangerous games to keep them. Along with his friends, and with Amaragi discovering he can control straw of all things, he’s determined to survive and figure out what’s really going on with this whole thing.
Tsubasa Fukuchi, the creator of the popular early 2000s manga The Law of Ueki, has outdone himself with Parashoppers. This new series is an even more unique and exciting action story, featuring a lovable group of characters and impressively creative fight scenes. While Parashoppers hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves yet, it’s quickly gaining popularity and likely won’t stay underrated for long.
8) Mao

After losing her parents in an accident eight years prior, Nanoka Kiba is unexpectedly transported to Japan during the Taisho period in Rumiko Takahashi’s Mao. She quickly finds herself pursued by dangerous spirits, but finds an unlikely ally in a mysterious exorcist named Mao. They soon discover their situations may be linked in ways they never imagined.
As a huge Rumiko Takahashi fan, I’m so excited about Mao! It’s a fantastic addition to her already amazing work, packed with thrilling action, but what really grabbed me was the compelling mystery and how well the characters are developed. I’m especially thrilled to hear it’s getting an anime adaptation in 2026 – I really think that will get Mao the recognition it deserves and get everyone reading it!
7) RuriDragon

Masaoki Shindo’s RuriDragon tells the story of Ruri Aoki, a normal high school student who suddenly grows horns. Her mother reveals this is due to her father’s side of the family – Ruri has dragon ancestry that’s now surfacing. Now, she has to navigate the challenges of being a teenager while also learning to control her newfound dragon powers.
RuriDragon stands out for its fresh approach to everyday life stories, and it’s still considered one of the most compelling series ever published in Shonen Jump, even years later. While a long break slowed things down, the manga remains incredibly popular with both fans and reviewers.
6) Tower Dungeon

I recently read Tsutomu Nihei’s Tower Dungeon, and it’s a pretty interesting story. Basically, a princess gets kidnapped by a nasty necromancer, and everyone heads for this huge dragon tower to try and rescue her – some feel it’s their duty, others are hoping to claim the throne as a reward. The Royal Guard are on the case, and they seem to have a real shot at success now that they’ve brought on Yuva, who’s surprisingly capable.
Tower Dungeon is a unique dark fantasy series with thrilling action, memorable monster designs, and a surprisingly engaging cast of characters. While Tsutomi Nihei is well-known for his science fiction works like Blame! and Knight of Sidonia, Tower Dungeon proves his skill as a storyteller transcends genre.
5) Shinobi Undercover

In the manga Shinobi Undercover by Ippon Takegushi and Santa Mitarashi, a team of ninjas is tasked with protecting Aoi Mukai, an average high school student, from other ninjas who want to capture her. Yodaka, a shy ninja, prefers to stay out of the action, but he’s unexpectedly thrust into the center of things when he’s mistaken for Aoi’s close friend and must suddenly take on a more visible role.
Despite the disappointing performance of the creators’ earlier manga, Candy Flurry, Shinobi Undercover has proven to be a significant success. It’s much stronger than their previous work, offering fantastic action, compelling characters, and genuinely funny moments. Currently, it stands out as one of the best series in Shonen Jump, and it’s expected to remain a top title for the foreseeable future.
4) The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You

Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa’s manga, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, centers around Rentaro Aijou. After being rejected 100 times, he’s informed by the God of Love that he’ll find 100 soulmates in high school. However, he must learn to love them all equally, or they’ll die from the pain of not having a true connection.
With its clever humor and surprisingly sweet stories of love and friendship, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You stands out as a truly unique and exceptional harem manga. The upcoming third season of the 100 Girlfriends anime is sure to make the series even more popular than it already is.
3) Ichi The Witch

In Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki’s Ichi the Witch, Ichi is a young hunter who unexpectedly gains magical abilities after defeating a creature known as a Majik. This leads him into the world of witchcraft, a surprising turn of events because magic was traditionally believed to be exclusive to women, and the Majik possessed significant power.
From the start, Ichi the Witch has been incredibly popular, captivating audiences with its beautiful art and skillful blend of humor, emotion, and exciting action. With My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen currently on pause, Ichi the Witch has become a leading title in Shonen Jump, which is fantastic news for fans.
2) Kagurabachi

Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a famous blacksmith known for crafting six powerful, magical swords. After his father is murdered and the swords are stolen, Chihiro discovers a hidden seventh blade. He embarks on a quest to find the missing weapons and avenge his father’s death.
I have to admit, I initially rolled my eyes at Kagurabachi – it seemed a little too focused on being ‘cool’ at first. But wow, was I wrong! The action is absolutely incredible, and the story is surprisingly deep and well-written. It blew up almost instantly and became a huge hit worldwide! Honestly, Kagurabachi is the biggest thing happening in Shonen Jump right now, and I have a feeling it’s only going to become even more popular from here on out.
1) Gachiakuta

In Kei Urana’s Gachiakuta, Rudo is falsely accused of killing his father and exiled to a desolate, garbage-filled land called the Pit. There, he learns he’s a Giver – someone who can grant special powers to meaningful objects. Driven by a desire to return home and get revenge on those who betrayed him, Rudo vows to use his newfound abilities to achieve his goals.
Featuring impressive art, imaginative action sequences, and a compelling lineup of characters, Gachiakuta is a fantastic manga that continues to improve. Both the manga and its anime adaptation are generating a lot of buzz, aiming to establish Gachiakuta as a leading title for a new generation of readers, and it looks promising.
