What we know so far about the Highlander remake……

In 1986, the movie “Highlander” became a success. It featured Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery as immortal characters, battling other immortals throughout centuries, with the final confrontation taking place in modern times, as famously stated by the line: “There can be only one.” The storyline frequently shifted between different time periods, introducing Kurgan (Clancy Brown), another immortal who was a contender for a powerful prize – the collective power of all immortals who have ever lived. He was a formidable adversary to Connor MacLeod, played by Lambert. The film grossed nearly $6 million worldwide and had a popular soundtrack by Queen, though it led to a less-than-impressive sequel. Now, the remake of Highlander is underway, and here’s what we currently know about it…

  • Henry Cavill will take the Christopher Lambert title role
  • Russell Crowe will take the Sean Connery role
  • Dave Bautista will take the Clancy Brown role. Bautista was circling Kurgen back in 2015 when a version was being put together under the direction of Cedric Nicolas-Troyan
  • John Wick director Chad Stahelski will direct
  • Filming is due to begin at the end of the September and shoot in the UK as well as Hong Kong.
  • Michael Finch wrote the script for the remake. Previously he has scripted John Wick 4 and Predators (2010)
  • The film is for Amazon MGM but will get a theatrical release
  • There’s rumours that if successful it will spawn a TV series

……and that’s what we know about the Highlander remake so far!
