In the movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday,” a multitude of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are returning, led by Doctor Doom. This includes Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, and Pedro from “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, as well as Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, and Hannah John-Kamen from “Thunderbolts“. The film is also reprising a group of X-Men legends from the 2000s movies, such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Alan Cumming. Interestingly, the cast members of James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy, including Seth Green and Howard the Duck, are not part of this lineup for “Avengers: Doomsday”.
In addition to advertising his latest movie titled “The Floaters” featuring Aya Cash from “The Boys” and Jackie Tohn from “GLOW”, Green clarified that Howard the Duck won’t be featured in “Doomsday”. For now, fans can only enjoy Green’s roles in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy and the animated series “What If…?”.
What Did Green Have to Say About Doomsday?
In the latest installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Green made two appearances. These were in “What If… Howard the Duck Got Married?” and “What If… The Watcher Vanished?” Regarding future plans for him to reprise his voice role from the Guardians of the Galaxy series, he stated there are currently no substantial plans.
Later on, Green expressed his affection for playing Howard by saying, “I adore this role. It’s one of my most cherished blessings. Honestly, you can’t fathom how significant it is for me to have portrayed him in all the ways I have. It’s incredible.
The discussion later focused on the possibility of Howard appearing in ‘Doomsday’. Green said, “I’m quite certain I would have been informed earlier if that was going to take place. No one provided me with a roadmap or prepared me with arguments…So, no, I don’t believe it will ever happen.
It’s possible that Green and Howard the Duck could make another appearance at some point. You might recall that the first time we encounter MCU’s Howard is in the Collector’s museum. Interestingly, Benicio del Toro, who portrayed the Collector, has recently hinted at a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the story concluded with a fresh lineup taking shape following the exit of Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, and Drax. This new squad was headed by Rocket, and included members such as Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, Warlock’s pet Blurp, and a rescued girl named Phyla. It’s possible that character Howard might be part of this team in a potential fourth Guardians of the Galaxy film, though it would likely be under the direction of someone other than James Gunn.
It’s not unlikely that another “Guardians of the Galaxy” could be produced now that Gunn has moved on to develop the DCU. Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, hinted at a possible return during his interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying, “For Marvel fans, we completed ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’ There was a pledge for Star-Lord’s return. So, all I can say is we will honor that commitment. Let’s see what lies ahead.” We’ll have to keep an eye on developments in the future.
