As filming for *Spider-Man 4* gets underway in the UK, rumors are circulating about a number of villains who will be featured in the movie. Spider-Man has a famously large roster of enemies, and Tom Holland’s previous *Spider-Man* films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have already introduced several of them. If the latest reports are accurate, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* will continue this trend, bringing both new and returning villains to the big screen.
Following the multiversal battle against villains like Green Goblin, Sandman, and Doc Ock in *Spider-Man: No Way Home*, *Spider-Man 4* is drawing inspiration from lesser-known parts of the Spider-Man comics for its next set of enemies. The film will also feature some unexpected allies, including Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Sadie Sink, known for her role in *Stranger Things*, as a new character.
Although Marvel hasn’t officially revealed the story or villains for the next Spider-Man movie, a report from industry insider Daniel RPK suggests who Spider-Man will likely face as enemies.
Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings*, is directing the fourth *Spider-Man* movie. Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man, and Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, respectively. The film is currently set to be released on July 31, 2026.
All the Reported Villains in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Tombstone
Tombstone, also known as Alonzo Lincoln, is a powerful crime boss in New York City. He’s easily recognizable due to his large build, pale skin caused by albinism, and uniquely filed, pointed teeth. He’s fought both Spider-Man and Daredevil as a villain, and once served as a key hitman for Kingpin.
While Tombstone has appeared in Spider-Man animated movies like *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse* and the *Marvel’s Spider-Man* video games for PlayStation 5, this marks his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tarantula
In Marvel Comics, “Tarantula” is a name used by multiple villains, with Anton Miguel Rodriguez being the most well-known. He first appeared in *The Amazing Spider-Man* #134 as a rebel from the country of Delvadia. After moving to the United States, he turned to crime and became a recurring enemy of Spider-Man.
Tarantula wears a suit equipped with hidden, retractable spikes that can deliver dangerous drugs and poisons to his opponents. The comics feature encounters between Tarantula, Spider-Man, and the Punisher, and a similar storyline could be adapted for the upcoming *Spider-Man 4* movie.
Boomerang
Boomerang, a villain from Spider-Man’s comics, could make his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming film, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*. Originally an Australian baseball player named Frederick Myers, Boomerang was equipped with advanced weapons by a group called the Secret Empire. He’s known for his ongoing battles with Spider-Man, but has also fought heroes like Shang-Chi, Daredevil, and Black Widow.
Scorpion
Michael Mando will be returning as Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion, in Spider-Man 4. Fans may remember Gargan from a quick scene after the credits of *Spider-Man: Homecoming*, where he pressured Adrian Toomes (Vulture) to reveal Spider-Man’s secret identity.
In the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, the villain Scorpion, played by Mando, is likely to return. There’s talk that he might even reappear in his classic green suit, complete with his dangerous, robotic tail.
Ramrod
Daniel RPK’s report also names Ramrod as a villain connected to Spider-Man. Ramrod started as a construction foreman who was hurt on the job. He was rebuilt with cybernetic enhancements by Kerwin Broderick, a villain known from the Daredevil comics. Broderick then forced Ramrod to work for him, with the goal of defeating Daredevil.
I’ve always been fascinated by Ramrod – the guy’s got these incredible cybernetic upgrades that basically make him super strong, unbelievably durable, and seriously fast. It’s a shame, though, because even with all that power, he’s usually just a small-time bad guy in the Marvel universe. You’d think they’d do more with him!
Savage Hulk
There have been rumors for a while that Spider-Man will team up with an Avenger in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, and it’s now believed Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk. However, reports suggest he’ll be playing the Savage Hulk – the incredibly strong, uncontrollable version – instead of the more controlled Professor Hulk he portrayed in *Avengers: Endgame*.
Spider-Man and Hulk are often depicted as allies in Marvel comics and movies, but rumors suggest their next film appearance will involve a conflict between the two heroes.
These Villains Are Now Unlikely to Appear in Spider-Man 4
For months, people have been guessing who Spider-Man will fight next, and some of those early guesses have turned out to be wrong.
Martin Li, also known as Mr. Negative, was a strong contender to be the main villain in the next *Spider-Man* movie. This villain, famous for his powers over darkforce and lightforce which give him two different personalities, has been frequently mentioned in rumors about *Spider-Man 4*. However, according to insider Alex Perez, these rumors suggesting his appearance in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe film are false.
Perez also removed Knull, a powerful symbiote villain recently highlighted in *Venom: The Last Dance*, from the list of enemies in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*. Marvel’s cinematic universe hasn’t yet included symbiote villains in its *Spider-Man* stories, especially since Sony was simultaneously releasing its own *Venom* movies.
Now that the *Venom* movies are finished, Marvel Studios might be ready to start including symbiotes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This would naturally lead to the introduction of the villain Knull, though it doesn’t look like the upcoming *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* movie will be where that happens.
