Those projects were put on hold, but the positive response to *The Penguin* – especially the popularity of a lesser-known character like Sofia Falcone – could revive them. The show also leaves some storylines unfinished, particularly regarding Sofia’s relationship with Selina Kyle (Zoë Kravitz). Because there’s still a lot of story to tell in this version of Gotham, the show’s Emmy wins might lead to even more spin-offs and expansions.

The Batman 2 Is DC Studios’ First Big Elseworlds Project

Although there’s potential for more shows based on this universe, the next confirmed installment is *The Batman Part II*. Director Matt Reeves recently announced the script, which he wrote with Mattson Tomlin, is finished. The project faced delays from its initial 2025 release plan because Reeves needed extra time to perfect the script – a decision supported by DC Studios’ James Gunn, who believes a strong script is essential before filming begins. Production is now set to start in spring 2026.
