How Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle Movie Sets Up Part 2

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

The first part of the long-awaited *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* is now playing in U.S. theaters and is already a huge success! It originally came out in Japan on July 18, 2025, building a lot of excitement beforehand. This installment focuses on the massive battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons, as Muzan Kibutsuji attempts to destroy the entire Corps in one night. The Demon Slayers are determined to fight back, and the first part of the film delivers some incredible action, including intense battles between Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka against Akaza, Shinobu Kocho against Doma, and Zenitsu Agatsuma against Kaigaku.

Although the main characters truly shine, the supporting cast isn’t idle either. The Infinity Castle is overrun with demons, many as powerful as the Lower Moons. The first movie ends with a dramatic cliffhanger, teasing the major storylines that will continue in the second installment.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Sets Up Doma’s Next Big Fight

The film’s first battle features Shinobu Kocho facing off against Doma, a powerful demon ranked as Upper Rank Two. Doma is responsible for the death of Shinobu’s sister, Kanae, who was also a Hashira. Driven by her sister’s death, Shinobu has long been determined to defeat him, even though she hadn’t encountered him before. She withdrew from Hashira training to both help Tamayo and Yushiro develop a poison to kill Muzan and to pursue her own quest for revenge.

Shinobu shared with Kanao the story of Kanae’s death and her plan for revenge. During her battle within the Infinity Castle against Doma, she fought with everything she had. While she couldn’t defeat him, Shinobu was incredibly skilled and fast – so much so that even Doma struggled to follow her movements. Unfortunately, Doma’s ability to neutralize her powerful poisons limited her options, and she ultimately focused on creating an opening for Kanao, who arrived later.

Kanao arrived just a little too late and was devastated to watch Shinobu die, feeling helpless to intervene. Even in her final moments, Shinobu managed to instruct Kanao to carry out their plan. While the beginning of the fight is mostly preparation, we’ll see Kanao truly shine in the next part. Plus, another fighter will enter the battle, and they have a surprising link to the powerful Upper Rank Two.

The Other Demon Slayers Are on the Move

With Akaza and Kaigaku defeated, only three Upper Rank demons remain: Kokushibo, Doma, and Nakime. The position of Upper Rank Five has been vacant since Gyokko was defeated, and Muzan hasn’t found anyone strong enough to fill it. Nakime took over as Upper Rank Four after Hantengu’s defeat, and Kaigaku replaced Gyutaro. Although Shinobu died in battle, Tanjiro, Giyu, and Zenitsu are badly injured and currently unable to fight.

With several key fighters out of commission, the remaining Demon Slayers are stepping up to take the lead. The movie concludes with Gyomei Himejima, Muichiro Tokito, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Mitsuri Kanroji, Obanai Iguro, Inosuke Hashibira, and Genya Shinazugawa preparing for the final fight, along with Yushiro, who proved to be a crucial player in this battle, offering his abilities to help.

Kanao will face off against Doma, but the others must defeat Kokushibo and Nakime before they can get to Muzan. This is a huge challenge, as Muzan is actively fighting the poison Tamayo gave him and is trying to weaken the Demon Slayer Corps to buy himself time. The next part of the battle promises to be even more intense than what we’ve already seen, and the current part concludes by setting the stage for these upcoming fights.
