I initially thought this watch had a timeless design – classic and sophisticated enough for a suit. Now that I’ve worn it, I stand by that assessment even more strongly.

In the photos, we peeled off the protective sticker from the watch face to show off its beautiful blue color. The official Timex photos make it look more subdued, but the color is actually rich and vibrant. I was really surprised by how deep and jewel-toned it is – it even changes slightly depending on the light.

I have to say, the Superman face hidden within is even more impressive than I initially thought! It’s incredibly subtle – you really need the light to hit it just right to notice it. But when you *do* see it, it really stands out, and the red band around the face does too. I was lucky enough to catch it in the glow of the setting sun, and it was amazing!

The watch also has a see-through caseback, a nice feature for an affordable mechanical watch, although the blue color and Superman logo with James Gunn’s signature partially hide the movement inside. It’s powered by a Miyota 8217 automatic movement, which is dependable but doesn’t offer the same visual appeal as more intricate and costly movements.

You can find beautiful Marlin Jet models for under $300. What’s particularly interesting is the price of the limited edition Superman watch at $369 – just $50 more than a standard Marlin Jet directly from Timex, despite being limited to 1000 pieces. As a watch enthusiast, I’m impressed with the quality – it feels like a much more expensive timepiece.

The Timex x Superman Marlin Jet Automatic has a 38mm stainless steel case, which is a pretty typical size. While it might feel a little small for people with larger wrists or those who prefer bigger watches, there’s been a growing trend lately towards smaller, more classic-looking timepieces like this one.

The Timex x Superman Marlin Jet watch boasts a precise Japanese movement with 21 jewels, a durable, scratch-resistant crystal, and a comfortable leather strap. It can withstand splashes and brief submersion in water up to 50 meters, and each watch is uniquely numbered.
