Is there anything Jonathan Bailey can’t do?
Besides starring in his latest film, “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” alongside co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, the 37-year-old actor disclosed that he also took on a unique role by contributing to the creation of the movie’s famous soundtrack.
During his June 25 interview on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jonathan excitedly shared that a career milestone for him was performing a clarinet solo in Alexandre Desplat’s reinterpretation of John Williams’ classic Jurassic Park theme song. He exclaimed, “The geek inside me exploded like Mount Vesuvius.
Initially, his musical abilities were not initially factored into the scheme, as he was engrossed in performing in Shakespeare’s Richard II on London’s West End stage instead.
He stated that he and his companion chose to sit at the peak for the purpose of observing, and they were left with goosebumps. He mentioned their intention was to drop by Abbey Road Studios to catch a glimpse of the 105-piece elite orchestra performing.
As the days went by, he returned and expressed, “Is it alright if I bring my clarinet? I used to play it in school.” Later in the week, they agreed, saying, “Go ahead.” This happened on a Friday.
But Jonathan was met with something much greater than sitting in on the magic.
He shared that his heartfelt wish was to perform just one note, even if it was slightly off-key. That moment would have been a dream come true for him. Remarkably, he ended up playing the Dr. Henry Loomis theme on the clarinet, which is part of the musical score for the character he portrays.
What about telling us how the clarinet journey of the actor from “Wicked” started? It all happened when he was quite young and discovered it as a pastime.
He shared that his grandfather presented him with a plastic clarinet, which he believes was a prize from a local pub. With a chuckle, he added this revelation to talk show host Jimmy Fallon. From there, he began honing his skills on the instrument.
In his own words, Jonathan found it deeply moving when he contributed to the Jurassic soundtrack, as it felt like coming full circle for him.
In addition to his stage and screen abilities, the actor was equally captivating on the red carpet due to his unique sense of style. Recently, during a photoshoot in London, he caused quite a stir by donning flip-flops on the red carpet.
One fan defended him on social media over his questionable fashion picks, saying, ‘Let him be, he has the freedom to do as he pleases.’
The following week, the Bridgerton actor chose to wear a pair of Maison Margiela Tabi split-toe loafers. These shoes were referred to as “provocative” or “seductive” at the New York premiere of the film on June 23.
“It’s a slutty little everything, isn’t it,” he quipped to TopMob News, “these days?”
