The major horror game release for October 2025 is now available, and it’s confirmed to work great on the Steam Deck. With few new horror titles coming out this spooky season, many players will likely revisit older favorites. If you’re looking for something new, though, this release stands out – and it’s one of the few verified for seamless play on the Steam Deck.
This month’s most anticipated horror game releases include *Tormented Souls 2*, *Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2*, *Little Nightmares 3*, and *Bye Sweet Carole*. While *Tormented Souls 2* and *Bloodlines 2* are still upcoming, *Bye Sweet Carole* and *Little Nightmares 3* are available now. *Little Nightmares 3* is confirmed to work well on the Steam Deck, and although it’s the biggest release of these four titles, it might not necessarily be the best.
About the Game
The *Little Nightmares* series began in 2017 with a game developed by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco. It quickly became a popular success, receiving positive reviews (an 83 on Metacritic) and selling a lot of copies. A prequel, *Little Nightmares II*, followed in 2021 and was similarly well-received. Now, the third game in the series has been released, but it has some changes compared to the previous ones.
Unlike the first two *Little Nightmares* games, *Little Nightmares III* wasn’t developed by Tarsier Studios – they’ve moved on to a new project called *Reanimal*. Instead, the game was made by Supermassive Games, the studio behind the popular horror game *Until Dawn*. Supermassive has had mixed success with its games, and *Little Nightmares III* seems to continue that trend. Critics have given it a score of 71 on Metacritic, which is significantly lower than its predecessors, and player reviews aren’t much better, with an approval rating of only 55%. Despite not being the highest-rated horror game of October 2025, *Little Nightmares III* is definitely the most prominent release.
Okay, so I’m really curious about *Little Nightmares III* on the Steam Deck, even though reviews are a bit all over the place. It’s currently $40, and honestly, it seems to be selling pretty well – lots of people are reviewing it! That probably means we won’t see a sale for the holidays. But, if I can be patient and don’t need it *right* this Halloween, there’s a chance it might go on sale in November or December. In the meantime, good news for horror fans: one of the biggest horror games of the year was just verified to work great on the Steam Deck last month, so I have something else to play!
Just wanted to say, I’m really excited about this, and I’d love to hear what you all think! Feel free to leave a comment here, or head over to the ComicBook Forum to chat with everyone else.
