Pictures from the set of the new Harry Potter series have been shared online, and they’ve given me a good sense of what to expect. The HBO adaptation of the beloved books and films has caused a lot of debate, and I get why people are worried. While there’s a risk it could miss the mark, this Harry Potter remake also has the potential to be amazing.
The biggest appeal of HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series is that it won’t be rushed like the movies were. Fans can expect a more faithful adaptation of the books when it arrives in 2027. However, it will be a challenge to fully capture the depth and detail of the novels – including characters’ thoughts and the beautiful writing style – without making some adjustments for the screen.
The risk with adapting a beloved story for television is that changes are often unpopular. We’ve seen this happen before – remember the added scenes in the Harry Potter movies, like the unnecessary fire at the Burrow or Ginny giving Harry a pie? However, early glimpses of HBO’s new Harry Potter series are actually promising, which is encouraging.
The Harry Potter Remake Will Add Scenes Not In The Books (But That We Know Actually Happened)
The first season of the new Harry Potter series seems to be faithfully recreating scenes from the books, even ones that weren’t in the films. While that’s great news for fans, I’m particularly curious about some unusual set photos showing Albus Dumbledore meeting Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel. This scene doesn’t appear in any of the books, so it looks like the TV show is adding new content.
We already know, based on the story, that Dumbledore met with Nicolas Flamel while Harry was searching for the Philosopher’s Stone. Dumbledore would have visited his friend to talk about keeping the Stone safe and eventually destroying it. We simply didn’t witness this meeting in the book because the story is told through Harry’s eyes, and he wasn’t present.
As a longtime fan, I’m really encouraged by what I’m hearing about the new Harry Potter series. Apparently, season one will include scenes that, while never explicitly shown in the books, always felt like they logically happened. That’s huge! It suggests the showrunners are willing to flesh out the implied moments, the things fans have pieced together over years of reading between the lines. Honestly, that’s what makes this remake feel worthwhile – the potential to see those hidden stories brought to life. It’s a deeply exciting prospect, and I’m much more optimistic about this series knowing they’re digging deeper than just retelling what’s already on the page.
These Extra Scenes Are Exactly What Will Make The Harry Potter Remake So Valuable
I’m really looking forward to the new Harry Potter TV series, especially the chance to see scenes from the books that weren’t included in the films. But simply revisiting those moments wouldn’t be enough to warrant a big-budget remake. What’s most exciting to me is the possibility of seeing even more scenes that are true to the original books – sticking to the established canon is crucial. The show promising to show things like Dumbledore meeting with Famel is just the start, and I hope we’ll see much more of the source material brought to life.
There are so many scenes we could explore through Dumbledore’s eyes, given how central he is to the entire Harry Potter story. I’m also really hoping to see more of Lily and James with baby Harry, or even their time as students. It would be fascinating to see Voldemort’s perspective during the murder of his father, and I’d love to learn more about Barty Crouch Jr.’s tragic past on screen.
There’s so much potential with this project. Even a long TV series couldn’t include everything that happens in the books. As a longtime fan of both the books and movies, I really want to see fresh content, and I’m confident that HBO’s Harry Potter series will give us exactly that.
