Dune: Part Three Set Photo Takes Denis Villeneuve Fans Back to Arrakis

The first photo taken from the set of Dune: Part Three has emerged online.

The filming for Dune: Part Three has begun! This upcoming movie serves as a continuation of 2021’s Dune and 2024’s Dune: Part Two, with Denis Villeneuve returning as the director. Timothée Chalamet will once again step into the role of Paul Atreides for this exciting new chapter.

What do we see in the Dune: Part Three set photo?

On the official Dune Instagram, they’ve shared the first glimpse of Part Three, transporting series enthusiasts back to the desert planet Arrakis. While the picture merely displays a barren sandy expanse under a red sky, it ignites anticipation for the upcoming science fiction film.

Part Three, will be based on the 1969 novel “Dune Messiah” by Frank Herbert. Previously, there were rumors that the film would be named “Dune Messiah,” but it was confirmed yesterday that its official title is actually “Dune: Part Three.

Alongside Chalamet, the confirmed lineup also features Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh portraying Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa in the role of Duncan Idaho, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II Atreides, and Ida Brooke playing Ghanima Atreides.

The Dune Messiah novel carries on the tale of Paul Atreides, infamously recognized as Muad’Dib. As Emperor of the known cosmos, he holds power beyond what any individual should ever be able to control. Adored as a divine figure by the fervent Fremen, Paul grapples with the hostility of the political houses he dethroned and a plot hatched within his inner circle. Meanwhile, despite the machinations of his adversaries causing House Atreides to falter, the real peril for Paul lies in the fate of his lover, Chani, and the future heir to his family line…

In December 2026, Dune 3 is scheduled to hit theaters across the U.S. and IMAX screens, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. Following this, Denis Villeneuve will move on to direct a James Bond film for Amazon and MGM Studios.
