Could Snapdragon join the growing army of handheld gaming PCs?

Qualcomm has consistently delivered impressive performance in recent years with its powerful processors, and it’s continuing that trend with the soon-to-be-released Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme chips.
The chipmaker has consistently demonstrated a desire to not only create processors for Windows on ARM laptops, but also to improve gaming experiences on devices powered by Snapdragon chips.
When I mention Snapdragon laptops, people usually have very different reactions. Some are enthusiastic fans, while others are surprised to hear Qualcomm makes laptop chips.
The most common complaint about Snapdragon laptops is that their graphics aren’t top-of-the-line. But that’s intentional – these laptops prioritize long battery life, consistent processing power, and a slim, light design over powerful graphics.
Interestingly, that compromise sounds a lot like what you see with Windows gaming handhelds. Devices such as the Xbox Ally X and Steam Deck don’t have top-of-the-line components, but they’re still designed and optimized for gaming on the go.
Qualcomm is clearly focused on making gaming better on Snapdragon-powered computers, so it wouldn’t be shocking if they released a Snapdragon handheld gaming device within the next year or two. Only time will tell if that happens.
Now that you have the new Snapdragon Control Panel, you can enjoy a smoother, fairer gaming experience in titles like Fortnite, and customize settings for each game to optimize performance on your Snapdragon PC.
