The Secret Story Behind How Kim Kardashian Bought Her Dad’s Bible From O.J. Simpson’s Estate

Though Robert Kardashian passed away in 2003, his family frequently references him on their reality shows. They’ve kept his memory alive with old videos and stories, and recently acquired a special piece of his history: his Bible. Kim Kardashian purchased the Bible her father gave to O.J. Simpson during the well-known 1995 murder trial, and she’s now sharing how she managed to get it.

As a pop culture observer, the recent auction of O.J. Simpson’s belongings after his death was fascinating, but one item really stood out: a Bible given to him by Robert Kardashian following his 1994 arrest. I was particularly struck by the news that Kim Kardashian tried to buy it privately for $15,000 – a move that was turned down, and, of course, documented for all of us to see on her family’s Hulu show, The Kardashians. It really highlighted how deeply intertwined their families are, even decades later.

Kim refused to let that be the final outcome, and confirmed on November 20th that it wasn’t. She then opened a Bible and began to speak.

I recently won the O.J. Simpson auction, though I haven’t opened the package yet. Just letting everyone know it was me!

Kim Kardashian spent $80,276 to buy a Bible at auction. The purchase reunited the book with the family of its original owner. While more than her initial offer (though less than the cost of gifts she and her sisters exchange), Kardashian likely felt the price was worth it to obtain a meaningful piece of her father’s past.

Kim Kardashian, the star of All’s Fair, explained that news of her initial bid on the Bible was leaked to TMZ. She believes this was intentionally done to increase interest and boost sales for the auction, and she went on to say:

I understood what was happening, but I didn’t want to be directly involved. That’s why we used a pseudonym when bidding on the Bible – to keep my identity hidden.

The secret is out! Kim Kardashian revealed something new on the upcoming episode of The Kardashians, titled “The Love That You Once Had,” which will air in 2025. She shared the news with her daughter, Chicago.

You might not understand this now, or even be interested, but you’ll eventually realize its importance. This object is very meaningful to me because it belonged to my father. Even after someone passes away, a part of them always remains with us.

Flipping through Robert Kardashian’s Bible provided a bit of a surprise for Kim, as she said:

I believed my dad had given O.J. a Bible and written in it. But it turns out it was actually my dad’s own Bible, with his name written inside – I hadn’t realized that before.

Kim also pointed out handwritten notes and underlined sections in the Bible, claiming they were definitely written by O.J. Simpson, not Robert Kardashian. She explained to Chicago that her father had given the Bible to a friend as a source of encouragement, but didn’t offer any further explanation to her daughter, simply stating:

He went to jail. It’s a long story. I’ll tell you when you’re older.

I’m really curious to know how that story will be told to the Kardashian family’s children. And Kim already has plans for where Robert Kardashian’s Bible will end up – she’s decided which of her siblings will receive it.

I can’t wait to give this to Khloé! She’s the one who told me about the auction in the first place, so I really think she should have this Bible.

It was very kind of her to do that, and while Kim Kardashian went to great lengths and spent a lot of money to recover the family book, I’m sure everyone is happy to have it back.

You can watch Kim Kardashian’s shows, including The Kardashians and her new drama All’s Fair, on Hulu. Hulu is offering a 30-day free trial to both new and some returning customers. After the trial, plans start at $9.99 per month. You can choose between plans with or without ads. View the deal and start your free trial now!

As a total reality TV fan, I’m excited to share that new episodes of The Kardashians are coming out every Thursday on Hulu. You can finally catch up with everything the family is doing!
