In the fifth and last season of “The Boys,” a comic character initially hinted at in Season 3 will finally step onto the live-action stage for the first time. Filming for “The Boys” Season 5 has been completed before its scheduled 2026 release, marking the conclusion of the main story revolving around the Boys team’s battle against Vought and their genetically engineered superheroes, including the recently appointed Homelander (Antony Starr). Even though it’s the final season, “The Boys” Season 5 might introduce new superheroes, and one of them could be the previously suggested character.
In simpler terms, at the end of season 4, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) gained extraordinary abilities and utilized them to eliminate Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) and obtain a virus that specifically targets superhumans. This led to President Steven Calhoun (David Andrews) enforcing martial law and appointing Homelander and his corrupted superhuman force as deputies. The Boys have been detained, indicating that season 5 is preparing for an intensely dramatic finale of the well-liked Amazon Prime Video series. The upcoming season may push boundaries even further by incorporating one of the comics’ most debated characters.
Blarney Cock Was Teased in The Boys Season 3
One intriguing possibility for season 5 of “The Boys” could be the introduction of Blarney Cock into live-action. Originally appearing in the comic book series in 2006’s “The Boys #4: Cherry Part 1”, Blarney Cock is the offspring of Queen Maeve and Old Legend, having been raised in a Vought orphanage. After being sent to the United States, he was recruited by Vought once his flight abilities manifested. In the comic, he was introduced as part of the young team, Teenage Kix, whom The Boys monitor during their night of revelry and excess at a brothel.
In the fourth episode of season 3, titled “Glorious Five Year Plan,” of the series The Boys, some viewers might not have realized that Jamie the hamster’s appearance was a hint at Blarney Cock’s upcoming live-action debut. In the comic books, Blarney Cock often partook in questionable acts involving small rodents like gerbils or hamsters, which were symbolic of an act known as “gerbiling.” This act involved an individual inserting a gerbil into their rectum for sexual gratification, a practice that Blarney Cock was fond of until his demise at the hands of Hugh Campbell (portrayed by Jack Quaid in the live-action series).
In the live-action version of “The Boys,” Jamie is a hamster that has been given Compound V, turning him into the first animal with superpowers. His abilities mimic those of Blarney Cock from the comic books, and he swiftly takes out Russian soldiers before breaking free from the lab where The Boys discover Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). Jamie’s introduction in “The Boys” season 3 paves the way for Blarney Cock’s appearance, which could potentially lead to Queen Maeve’s (Dominique McElligott) return to the show after her departure at the end of season 3.
Why The Boys Season 5 Is the Perfect Place For Blarney Cock to Debut
In 2022’s “Glorious Five Year Plan”, it was Jamie the hamster who made a daring escape from the Russian compound, and ever since, he has remained elusive. It would be thrilling to have him reappear in the fifth season of ‘The Boys’, and even more so if Blarney Cock were to appear alongside him. As ‘The Boys’ is set to conclude with its fifth season, this could be their last opportunity to introduce Blarney Cock as a main character. However, other upcoming series like ‘Gen V’, the animated ‘Diabolical’, and shows such as ‘The Boys: Mexico’ and ‘Vought Rising’ may yet feature Blarney Cock in future storylines.
After pretending to die and vanishing from “The Boys” at the end of season 3, Queen Maevie has been living undercover as Maggie Shaw with her partner, Elena (played by Nicola Correia-Damude). Despite her absence, she’s expected to influence the events in the final season due to her significant role earlier. Bringing in a character called Blarney Cock might serve as a nod to Queen Maeve, and it could also be the first time we see the Teenage Kix team on screen, who have been mentioned but not yet shown in the series.
Blarney Cock’s unusual romantic interests, particularly towards Jamie the hamster, are tame compared to some other things shown in ‘The Boys’. Introducing Blarney Cock into the series for its final season would add an unexpected twist, especially since Paul Reiser has confirmed his return as The Legend in ‘The Boys’ Season 5. Moreover, Blarney Cock’s son from the comic books could also appear for the first time in live-action. Although no specific release date has been set for ‘The Boys’ Season 5, it is anticipated to air in 2026. Meanwhile, ‘Gen V’ season 2 will be available on Amazon Prime Video starting September 17, 2025.
