Two new Tomb Raider games revealed, with Alix Wilton Regan cast as Lara Croft

Okay, so as a long-time Tomb Raider fan, I’ve been waiting ages – seriously, years stuck in what felt like limbo – for a new big Tomb Raider game. And finally, at The Game Awards 2025, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios showed us what they’ve been working on, and honestly, it looks amazing. I’m super hyped!

Last night, the studios announced two new Tomb Raider games: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst. British actress Alix Wilton Regan will be playing Lara Croft in this next chapter of the series.

The next Tomb Raider game, Legacy of Atlantis, is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s a fresh take on the very first Lara Croft adventure from 1996, celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Built with cutting-edge graphics in Unreal Engine 5 and featuring updated gameplay, Legacy of Atlantis aims to connect the classic Tomb Raider experience with the future of the series.

I’m really excited about the new Tomb Raider game, Legacy of Atlantis! Crystal Dynamics is still leading the charge, which is awesome, but they’re getting some help from Flying Wild Hog, the team behind games like Shadow Warrior and Evil West. I’ve heard great things about Flying Wild Hog’s action gameplay, so I think this collaboration will be fantastic!

Although it seemed strange at first, both studios now belong to Embracer Group, which bought them as part of a series of acquisitions earlier in the 2020s.

I was really excited to hear from Michał Szustak, the CEO of Flying Wild Hog, about their new game, Legacy of Atlantis! He put out a press release detailing the announcement, and it’s got me even more hyped to learn more.

We’re incredibly excited to be working with Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios on one of our biggest projects yet. It’s a real privilege to bring our skills and enthusiasm to such a beloved franchise like Tomb Raider. We’re dedicated to creating a fresh, modern take on Lara Croft’s original story, while still honoring what fans love about it. Let’s move on to the next game! Tomb Raider: Catalyst is the newest installment in the Tomb Raider series, and Crystal Dynamics has been working on it since 2022. It’s scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This game features a fresh take on Lara Croft, blending her classic look with the more rugged, resourceful version we’ve seen in recent games.

Though it’s just a short preview, Crystal Dynamics has revealed that the new game takes Lara Croft to Northern India following a legendary disaster. This event has revealed long-hidden secrets and stirred up the powerful, mysterious forces protecting them.

When treasure hunters arrive, Lara Croft begins a desperate search for the truth hidden beneath the surface. She must uncover the secrets of the past and stop those who would exploit them for evil. Caught between enemies and uncertain allies as the ancient world clashes with the modern one, Lara has to make difficult choices to prevent disaster and safeguard a secret with the power to change everything.

Alix Wilton Regan is confirmed to be the voice of Lara Croft in the upcoming games. She had hinted to TopMob Gaming that a big announcement was on the way, and this now appears to be that reveal!

I’m a huge fan of Alix Wilton Regan! I’ve seen her work in so many amazing games – she was fantastic in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and I totally recognized her voice in Cyberpunk 2077 and Lies of P: Overture. It’s cool to see she’s also been in Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and she’s done voice work on animated shows like DOTA: Dragon’s Blood and even The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball! She’s incredibly versatile.

At The Game Awards 2025, several big games were revealed, but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was the night’s biggest winner, taking home multiple awards—including Game of the Year.
