I’m really excited about Disclosure Day, the new movie from Universal Pictures! It feels like a classic Steven Spielberg film – a huge sci-fi adventure. As a longtime fan, it’s awesome to see him return to aliens, a theme he’s explored in films like Close Encounters, E.T., War of the Worlds, and even Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It’s been a while since his last big sci-fi movie (Ready Player One in 2018), and his last summer blockbuster (The BFG) didn’t do so well, so I’m hoping this one will be different. The release date – June 12, 2026 – is especially cool because it’s the 45th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark and the same weekend E.T. and Jurassic Park first came out! Seriously, with all this pointing to it, Disclosure Day is already shaping up to be a movie event I won’t miss in 2026.
Vertigo is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, and it’s a great time to revisit some of its older, lesser-known gems alongside the famous titles like Fables, The Sandman, Hellblazer, and Preacher. These comics might have been overlooked when they were first released, or simply forgotten over time, but they’re still fantastic and worth reading, especially now that Vertigo is making a comeback.
I was really excited for Kiss of the Spider Woman when it hit Hulu on February 27th, and critics seemed to like it too! It’s a shame it didn’t do well in theaters, only making about $2 million despite costing $30 million to make. It had a short run in October 2025, and even though Jennifer Lopez got some awards talk, it quickly disappeared. It’s based on a stage musical and a book from 1976, and honestly, I was surprised it didn’t connect with more people. The cast was great – along with Jennifer Lopez, you’ve got Tonatiuh, Bruno Bichir, Josefina Scaglione, and even Diego Luna from Andor! It’s a bummer when a critically acclaimed movie with such a talented cast doesn’t find its audience.
When media doesn’t quite work, it really stands out. A good example is The Order: 1886. This PlayStation 4 game had a fascinating idea – a steampunk fantasy shooter with horror elements – and a lot of creative potential. However, despite its strong concept, the game itself wasn’t very engaging. Even more than ten years after its release, it’s remembered more for its potential than its execution, serving as a reminder that a great idea doesn’t always need to become a game.
Will season two of Monarch introduce any unexpected Titans? It’s possible! But even if it doesn’t, the show seems to be building towards something similar to what Godzilla vs. Kong was to the MonsterVerse, or what Captain America: Civil War was to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – a major turning point and setup for even bigger things.
