The upcoming Avengers movie has a lot of work ahead of it. First, Avengers: Doomsday, releasing in just over a year, needs to establish Doctor Doom as a major threat. This will be challenging, as he’s only appeared once so far without saying a word or even showing his face. That’s just one of the hurdles, though. The film has a large cast, and many of these characters haven’t been seen in years, so the movie will need to explain what they’ve been up to.
It doesn’t look like the movie will have a lot of lengthy explanations, as Doomsday plans to showcase at least four different superhero teams, and each one needs plenty of action. But recent hints suggest that popular groups like the New Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Sam Wilson’s team might take a backseat, potentially allowing a team from a beloved Marvel animated film to become central to the story.
The MCU Could Be Putting Together a Group of Remarkable Young People

Even though the Young Avengers weren’t involved in the Doomsday storyline, they’re expected to be very important in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films and shows. Kamala Khan is currently building the team, having already recruited Kate Bishop in The Marvels, and others like Riri Williams and the twins Billy and Tommy Maximoff are potential members. However, there’s still plenty of opportunity for another team of young heroes to emerge, particularly as some characters with established family legacies begin to gain recognition.
After the battle with Thanos, Tony Stark starts a family with Pepper Potts, and their daughter, Morgan, seems to inherit his inventive spirit. She isn’t the only child of an Avenger following in a parent’s footsteps – T’Challa’s son, though not a fighter, shows compassion and supports his aunt Shuri as she grieves. In a surprising turn, Thor adopts Gorr’s child, and the two form a unique bond through their shared enthusiasm for powerful impacts.
Although these recent events seemed separate at first, the release of the first teaser for Doomsday is shifting how we see things. The teaser shows Steve Rogers back home with his child. It wasn’t surprising to learn he has a family, given his life with Peggy Carter, but seeing them brought to life on screen is a big deal. Everything suggests they’re assembling a team that has already achieved something significant.
A Next Avengers Adaptation Might Be the MCU’s Next Venture

The Avengers have children not just in live-action films, but also in the animated movie Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. This story takes place in a future world where Ultron has taken over, and the children of the Avengers are left to fend for themselves. Tony Stark acts as their guardian, as their parents were lost fighting Ultron. Instead of giving up, these superpowered kids – including James Rogers and Torunn Thorsdóttir – band together to defeat Ultron and save the world.
With Ultron potentially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the groundwork is laid for adapting the popular Young Avengers storyline. However, Marvel could also integrate them into the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. They might depict the team as already grown up, perhaps through time travel or by exploring alternate realities within the multiverse. The possibilities are vast, but Marvel needs to take a risk and give this team a proper chance after years of being overlooked.
