First released 33 years ago, The Muppet Christmas Carol is widely considered the best adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story. While many people expect Muppet versions of beloved tales to be entertaining, it might surprise some to learn how closely this film follows the original book. Despite the humor and puppets, it’s remarkably faithful to Dickens’ timeless text, making it one of the most accurate adaptations ever created.

While both storylines are compelling, Eleven’s receives more focus in the first season of the show—and remains the more captivating one through the cliffhanger ending of Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1. Though not entirely unique, the concept of a government lab conducting experiments on children with special powers is still an effective hook, drawing viewers in and keeping them invested. It shares similarities with a somewhat controversial anime that fans of Stranger Things might enjoy, though it won’t appeal to everyone.

From the very beginning, South Park surprised viewers with each new episode, especially after its incredibly popular and often shocking debut. The show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, were honest about struggling to follow up such a strong start, but they ultimately succeeded.
