The game Dispatch was a huge success in 2025, even winning Game of the Year from egmr.ru. It received excellent reviews and sold very well. Although a sequel hasn’t been officially announced, sources say Dispatch 2 is likely in development, though it may be delayed depending on the studio’s workload. Both Dispatch and this new project are being created by AdHoc Studio in collaboration with Critical Role. This partnership raises questions about how the studio will balance working on the new game – which is currently in its early stages – with the development of Dispatch 2.
To address worries about development, Critical Role CEO Travis Willingham shared that they’re actively discussing ways to work on both games together. He explained that they’re eager to release what he calls “Season 2” – the next installment – as soon as they can.
Dispatch 2 Arriving Sooner Rather Than Later?
We’re eager to share Season 2 content as soon as possible, just like everyone else. So, we’re discussing whether we can work on both existing and new projects simultaneously, and how to best manage our resources. We’re also starting talks with other potential collaborators.
It’s not unexpected that AdHoc Studio might create another Dispatch game. While they’re also working on a different mystery title, many thought that would delay a Dispatch sequel. However, it now appears a follow-up is coming sooner than anticipated.
Potential Dispatch 2 Release Date
With work on Dispatch 2 potentially starting soon, the big question is when it will be released. The first game took seven years to develop, but that included a slow start and a major overhaul midway through, plus some funding difficulties. A sequel won’t take that long, though. To build on the first game’s success, AdHoc aims to release Dispatch 2 in three to four years. Whether they can meet that timeline is still uncertain. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the original game’s release on the Nintendo Switch 2 next month, although it might have some censored content.
