The story really kicked off with the introduction of the character Bishop in Uncanny X-Men #282 (which I recently acquired – it’s much more affordable now than when I was younger!). Bishop came from a bleak future created by someone who betrayed the X-Men, a reveal that happened in Uncanny X-Men #287 and caused a sensation in the comic book world. The X-Men dominated the 1990s, with most fans reading either Uncanny X-Men or X-Men (Vol. 2), and often both. While incredibly popular, the storyline eventually lost momentum and concluded in the massive X-Men event of the decade, “Onslaught.”

For its first few seasons, Warehouse 13 consistently attracted a solid audience. However, changes in the cable TV industry during its fourth season began to create financial challenges. Although still a key show for Syfy, the network announced in May 2013 that the series would end after a shortened fifth season of just six episodes. The final episode aired 12 years ago, on May 19, 2014. The cancellation was mainly due to the high cost of producing a science fiction show with lots of special effects and detailed historical sets. These costs, combined with a decline in live viewership during Season 4, proved unsustainable. At the time, Syfy was also changing its strategy, focusing on less expensive reality TV and different types of programming. As a result, Warehouse 13 was affected by budget cuts, and the show’s creators had to finish the story in a limited number of episodes.

When handled effectively, these deaths can be deeply upsetting and stay with fans for a long time. Some players even avoid finishing games like Final Fantasy 7 because they know what’s coming and aren’t prepared for the emotional impact. Ryoko Kui’s Delicious in Dungeon is a great example of a recent trend in popular anime.
