In 2026, Marvel Studios is planning a big year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, introducing several new characters alongside familiar faces. They have two movies, five TV seasons, and a special presentation scheduled. These projects will continue the stories of heroes like Daredevil, Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Avengers, and we’re especially excited about seeing six particular characters join the MCU.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m so excited for what’s coming! It looks like 2026 will bring us two big theatrical releases: Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and Avengers: Doomsday in December. But that’s not all! We’re also getting a dedicated Punisher Special Presentation with Jon Bernthal, which is amazing! Plus, so many of our favorite series are continuing and growing the MCU in really interesting directions – Wonder Man, another season of Daredevil: Born Again, VisionQuest, more Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and even a second season of X-Men ’97! I can’t wait to see all the new characters they’ll be introducing, it’s going to be incredible!
6) Doctor Doom

We’ve seen hints of Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Robert Downey Jr. will fully debut as the iconic villain in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026. He previously made a brief, uncredited appearance in the post-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, arriving at the Baxter Building to meet Franklin Richards. The upcoming film is expected to show Doom traveling across different realities, possibly to protect his own world from dangerous incursions, which will likely bring him into conflict with many of Marvel’s heroes.
5) Eric Williams’ Grim Reaper

The upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man is the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set to premiere on January 27, 2026. The show will introduce both Wonder Man himself, and his brother, Eric Williams, who comic book fans know as the villain Grim Reaper. Demetrius Grosse will play Eric Williams, opposite Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams. While it’s unclear exactly how his powers will manifest, Grim Reaper is known for a powerful scythe. His introduction could significantly impact the MCU, as he’s a member of several notorious villain groups like the Lethal Legion, HYDRA, and the Sinister Six.
4) Sadie Sink’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Character

Okay, as a huge Marvel fan, I’m seriously excited about the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day! It’s bringing Tom Holland back as Peter Parker, which is fantastic, and they’re including some awesome characters like the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Michael Mando as the Scorpion sounds amazing too! What’s really got everyone buzzing is the addition of Sadie Sink from Stranger Things – we don’t know who she’s playing yet, but the rumors are wild! People are guessing she could be Black Cat, Gwen Stacy, Mayday Parker, or even Jean Grey from the X-Men. Honestly, Brand New Day feels like it could really shake things up and open up a ton of new possibilities for the MCU down the line.
3) Simon Williams’ Wonder Man

Demetrius Grosse’s first appearance as the Grim Reaper is promising, but the real draw of Wonder Man will be Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. He’s a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially with his experience in DC superhero films. The trailers suggest Wonder Man will be a visually striking and different kind of project for Marvel. While in the comics Wonder Man gained his powers from Heinrich Zemo and became an Avenger, the series appears to be taking a different approach to his origins in the MCU.
2) Tommy Maximoff’s Speed

Just like with Doctor Doom, the MCU has already introduced Tommy Maximoff. We first met him in WandaVision as the magically-created son of Scarlet Witch and Vision. When the magical reality they created fell apart, Tommy’s spirit was separated from his body, and his brother Billy helped him reappear in a new form – seemingly as Thomas Shepherd. Ruaridh Mollica will play this reincarnated version of Tommy in the upcoming VisionQuest series, expected in late 2026. This could lead to Tommy becoming the hero Speed and joining the Young Avengers alongside his brother, Wiccan. Some fans also believe Tommy’s return might pave the way for a reunion with the Scarlet Witch, potentially bringing her back after her apparent death in 2022.
1) Jessica Jones

It’s a little tricky because Krysten Ritter has already played Jessica Jones in three seasons on Netflix, and those shows are now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even though those older series are now considered canon, we’re still excited to see Jessica Jones fully return in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. She’ll be teaming up with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) to battle Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), and it will be interesting to see how her character has evolved over the past seven years. The chemistry between Jessica Jones and Daredevil was a highlight of the previous shows, so we’re really looking forward to seeing them together again.
