DC Has a New Power Couple, and They’re Absolutely Adorable

In the DC Universe, there’s a romantic buzz in the air that might catch fans off guard. It’s always thrilling to witness love stories unfold among our beloved superheroes, as they are often filled with excitement and intrigue. Experiencing young love is a unique sensation that’s tough to match. However, even something as straightforward as time travel can disrupt the smoothest of love tales, which is exactly what’s happening in “Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman“. One of our three Trinity characters falls head over heels during a mission to save a corgi, but unfortunately, their love story doesn’t have a joyful conclusion. That being said, they make an undeniably cute couple. SPOILER ALERT: The following discusses events in “Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman” #2.

Title #2 of “Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman” is penned by Tom King, Belen Ortega, Alejandro Sanchez, and Clayton Cowles. In this issue, our teenage Trinity ventures into Gotham City on a mission to recover Damian Wayne, now transformed into a Robin-Corgi. As she closes in on the pup, Robin, AKA Jason Todd, crosses her path. Given the array of Robins, an encounter with Jason Todd is intriguing. He’s the least favored among the Robins and carries a tragic past, as he was previously killed by the Joker. However, an unusual twist occurs as they team up to find Robin-Corgi; a bond starts to form between them, and they unexpectedly develop feelings for each other during their nighttime search.

Lizzie and Jason Sitting in a Batcave! K-I-S-S-I-N-G-CAVE!

The affectionate relationship between Trinity and Jason Todd, reminiscent of many teenage romances, starts with friendly teasing. Spotting Jason on a car roof, dressed in his vintage Robin attire, sets off laughter from Trinity. She good-humoredly comments on the costume details, such as the “fairy slippers” and what she nicknames “Superboy underwear.” This mirrors jokes often made about the original Robin outfit, but it’s Trinity who is revealing these humorously awkward aspects, much to Jason’s embarrassment.

The charm of Trinity and Jason’s love story lies in how everyone close to Trinity, notably her older and younger counterparts, are aware of her feelings for him, yet she remains reluctant to acknowledge them. During a conversation about their teamwork with Jason, Trinity shares the experience with her elder and younger selves, prompting the elder version to caution her against pursuing a romantic relationship given the imminent danger he faces. In an amusing twist, Young Trinity, also known as Wonder Robin, chimes in by creating a new rendition of the “K-I-S-S-I-N-G” tune.

In a playful exchange of words, Trinity and Jason show mutual admiration for their acrobatic skills on the streets, leading Jason to invite Trinity to explore deeper into his secret lair, the Batcave. A quick exchange of humor lightens the mood, but they swiftly refocus on their mission. A charming scene unfolds as they ride a motorcycle together, with older Trinity expressing concern over the risky nature of motorbiking. Before encountering Robin-Corgi in Killer Croc’s grasp, Trinity attempts to alert Robin about the Joker’s sinister intentions. However, self-assured Robin dismisses the warning, asserting that he is well-versed in Gotham’s criminal underworld and its dangerous players, even as Killer Croc stealthily approaches him from behind.

In the final moments of Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #2, Trinity gives Jason a peck on the cheek before she departs back to her time. It’d be amusing if Damian remembers this kiss after he reverts to his normal self. Here’s hoping we’ll witness more interactions between Trinity and Jason Todd in future issues, perhaps set in the present day. Jason could certainly benefit from a positive turn of events.
