Where is The Traitors Ireland filmed? Inside Slane Castle

The highly anticipated first season of The Traitors Ireland will premiere on BBC One later this month.

Unlike the UK and US versions, which film at Ardross Castle in Scotland, the Irish version of the show will be filmed in Ireland at the beautiful Slane Castle.

The location is truly impressive, with a beautiful backdrop of rolling green hills and a river. You see it in the show’s breakfast room and during the Round Table discussions. But just where is this place?

Discover all the locations where The Traitors Ireland was filmed, including the stunning Slane Castle.

Where was The Traitors Ireland filmed?

The Irish version of The Traitors was filmed in County Meath, at the historic Slane Castle. This 18th-century castle is located in the beautiful Boyne Valley, with views overlooking the River Boyne. It’s only a short distance from where the famous Battle of the Boyne took place.

The building is designed in a neo-Gothic style and is located on a large 1,500-acre estate that stretches across both sides of the river. The estate includes Rock Farm, a 90-acre organic farm with rare animal breeds, and is also home to the Slane Irish Whiskey Distillery.

The Conyngham family has owned the castle since the 1700s. Today, Alex Burton Conyngham, the Earl of Mount Charles, lives there with his wife, Carina, and their children.

A fire damaged nearly a third of the castle in 1991, but it was restored over the next ten years and reopened to the public in 2001.

Can you stay at the castle from The Traitors Ireland?

Great news! You can spend the night at Slane Castle – the same castle featured in The Traitors Ireland – by booking its private five-bedroom suite.

Slane Castle isn’t usually open for general visits, but from January to March, you can book Afternoon Tea with a special, surprising theme – they’re calling it a “traitorous twist!”

I’ve heard you can actually rent the whole place out for private events, like weddings or company parties! It’s amazing – they have plenty of space, both inside and out, and can easily host over 250 guests. It would be a stunning location for a special occasion.

The castle is a popular concert venue, having hosted many famous bands and artists including U2, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Bowie, Queen, and R.E.M.

The natural amphitheatre in the castle grounds has an 80,000 person capacity.

The Traitors Ireland will air at midnight on Saturday 24th January on BBC One.
