Brooklyn Beckham Claps Back at Narrative Wife Nicola “Controls” Him

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is defending his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.

The 26-year-old explained the ongoing issues he’s having with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, and stated he doesn’t want to fix things. He also made it clear that this conflict wasn’t the reason he decided to create space between himself and his family.

He clarified in an Instagram post on January 19th that the idea his wife controls him isn’t true. He explained that he’s actually been controlled by his parents for much of his life.

Brooklyn also mentioned that how he was raised will shape how he and Nicola, age 31, plan to raise their own family.

He explained that he and his wife simply want a life free from public scrutiny and manufactured narratives. They desire peace, privacy, and happiness for themselves and their future children.

Brooklyn clarified, “I’m not letting anyone tell me what to do – I’m finally speaking up and doing what I want.”

Brooklyn also stated in his post that his parents—who share Romeo, Cruz, and Harper Beckham—tried to sabotage his relationship with Nicola before their 2022 wedding, even though he tried to bring everyone together.

He claims his family has consistently shown disrespect towards his wife, despite their efforts to build a unified relationship. He also stated that his mother has repeatedly invited women from his past into their lives, seemingly with the intention of making both him and his wife feel uncomfortable.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Apparently, Brooklyn was seriously bummed out on his wedding day – his own wedding! – because Victoria totally stole their first dance. Like, completely ‘hijacked’ it, as if it was all about her! I’m so upset for him, it was supposed to be their moment, and she just… took over. It’s awful!

During my wedding reception, with 500 guests watching, Marc Anthony unexpectedly called me on stage. I was supposed to have a romantic first dance with my wife, but instead, my mother was there waiting to dance with me. It was incredibly awkward and inappropriate – she danced very closely with me in front of everyone, and I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or humiliated in my life.

After distancing himself from his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, 50, Brooklyn has said he’s noticed a big improvement in his mental health, feeling much less anxious.

While there wasn’t an official requirement, many people expected Nicola Peltz Beckham to wear a wedding dress designed by her future mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, when she married Brooklyn Beckham in April 2022. The wedding took place at Nicola’s family’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
