Martha Stewart is raising a glass to honesty.
The lifestyle expert recently denied having plastic surgery, despite speculation about how she maintains her youthful look.
She told People magazine in a recent interview that people are constantly telling her she’s had plastic surgery, which she denies. “I’m very honest,” she said, “but if people don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do.”

The 84-year-old revealed she had facial surgery, though it wasn’t specifically for beauty purposes.
She explained that she needed to be at the studio by 7 a.m., but a major blizzard was happening. As she bent down in her kitchen to say goodbye to her dogs, she accidentally startled one of her French bulldogs, causing it to jump up suddenly.
“She didn’t actually bite me,” Martha said. “She headbutted my lip into my teeth, causing a deep split that almost went from my lip to my nose. Blood started spraying everywhere, all over the dog. And this happened at eleven at night, during a blizzard. It’s the first time I’ve ever had to cancel an event.”
The serious injury likely needed a plastic surgeon for repair, but the businesswoman insisted it wasn’t a cosmetic procedure.

Martha explained that she needed 16 stitches to her lip after an injury. She clarified that it wasn’t cosmetic surgery, but rather a repair of a bad split lip. She was happy with how well it healed and emphasized that a plastic surgeon only performed that one repair on her face.

“I don’t think a lot about age,” she said, “but I don’t want to look my age.”
