Young James Bond series based on beloved novels confirmed to launch later this year – as casting call announced

Big Finish Productions is launching a new series of audio dramas based on the adventures of a well-known fictional spy from their early career.

A UK audio drama company has teamed up with Ian Fleming Publications Ltd to create ‘Young Bond,’ a new series of audio dramas. These stories will follow James Bond as a teenager, offering a glimpse into his life before he became the famous spy known for tuxedos, martinis, and a license to kill.

As a lifelong cinema fan, I’m thrilled to hear they’re planning a new series of films starting in September 2026! It’s kicking off with an adaptation of SilverFin, which is the very first book about young James Bond – a great place to start, if you ask me.

First published in 2005, SilverFin tells the story of a young James Bond – a 13-year-old student at Eton – who stumbles upon a mystery while on vacation in Scotland. A new audiobook version will present the story as 16 episodes, each lasting about half an hour.

Charlie Higson, the author of the original Young Bond novels, is helping to create the new audio series. He says he’s thrilled his books are being adapted into exciting, fully dramatized audio adventures. With a new James Bond film on the way, this audio series aims to introduce Bond to a new audience.

Big Finish Productions chairman Jason Haigh-Ellery recalls first seeing James Bond at age eight. He attended a cinema showing of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Diamonds are Forever on a rainy Saturday, probably younger than the recommended age. The usher didn’t mind, and Haigh-Ellery was immediately captivated by the thrilling and glamorous world of 007.

I was thrilled to find my father’s collection of books and read them all. As a child, I would have been captivated by a Young Bond series – and now, as an adult, I’m enjoying the audio adaptations. It’s a real honor that Ian Fleming Publications has chosen Big Finish to bring these stories to life, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the adventures!

Amanda Douglas, head of Ian Fleming Publications, announced they are thrilled to be creating audio dramas featuring Young Bond. This will allow both new and longtime fans to enjoy the stories in a fresh, immersive format.

As a huge Bond fan, I’m thrilled to hear that the Young Bond audio dramas are getting released for us to actually own! You’ll be able to download them or grab a collector’s edition CD box set, but you’ll have to head over to bigfinish.com or ianflemingshop.com – they’re the only places that will have them.

Big Finish has announced auditions for the main characters of their new series, looking for actors to voice teenage James Bond and his partner, Wilder Lawless. More details about the cast will be revealed soon.

As a huge movie fan, I’m really excited about this! If you want to stay in the loop with all the latest news and get a first peek at what’s coming, you can sign up for updates on youngbondadventures.com. They’ve promised to share more details about the release soon, so it’s a great way to keep up with everything!
