Considering and , the special for Valentine’s Day couldn’t have gone unnoticed.
When Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown first came out, it received mostly positive feedback from critics and viewers. While it’s not usually considered one of the very best Peanuts specials, it still has a solid 75% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Why the Future Still Looks Brighter Than Ever for the Peanuts Gang
Even after more than 70 years, the Peanuts characters remain incredibly popular, though their success often flies under the radar. A recent study conducted in December 2025 by the Girls General Research Institute aimed to identify the cutest characters ever. While Chiikawa ranked number one, Snoopy from Peanuts came in a close second.
Only a few weeks after that, Sony Pictures announced a significant investment in the Peanuts franchise. This came about through an agreement where Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment jointly purchased almost 41% of Peanuts Holdings LLC from WildBrain Ltd.
Sony Music Entertainment announced that they’ve increased their ownership in Peanuts, the beloved global brand that has entertained people for 75 years. They are excited to build on the brand’s success by using Sony Group’s worldwide resources and knowledge.
As a huge fan, I’m so glad to hear the team is dedicated to honoring Charles Schulz’s incredible work and what his family wants for Peanuts. Working with Sony Pictures Entertainment and with WildBrain still on board, they’re planning to keep Peanuts fresh and exciting for everyone, both longtime fans and new audiences. It means the Peanuts gang will continue to bring joy to people for many years to come, and that’s just wonderful!
Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown is currently available for streaming on AppleTV.
