7 Most Powerful MCU Characters with No Solo Movie (Ranked by Who Needs One)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, launched in 2008, has become a hugely popular and expansive film franchise. It’s filled with powerful characters, but some haven’t gotten the spotlight they deserve. As the MCU’s roster of heroes has grown over the years, and with the current Multiverse Saga nearing its end, these strong characters will be central to the future of the story and the beginning of a new chapter.

Despite the many Marvel Cinematic Universe movies already made, several incredibly powerful heroes – and even some villains – still haven’t gotten their own dedicated films. There’s a lot of untapped potential with these strong characters who haven’t had a chance to shine on their own, so we’ve ranked them based on how much they deserve their own story.

7) Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk

Although the Hulk has appeared in a solo film – 2008’s The Incredible Hulk – Mark Ruffalo’s version of the character hasn’t. Given that most of the Hulk’s memorable moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been within team-up movies like The Avengers or as a supporting character in other heroes’ stories, it’s crucial that Ruffalo’s Hulk gets his own dedicated film soon. He doesn’t rank higher on a list of deserving heroes simply because his inclusion feels like a technicality, but a solo movie starring Ruffalo’s Hulk is still a popular request among MCU fans.

6) Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been full of ups and downs, turning her into a complex character who often walks the line between good and evil. While she had a central role in the Disney+ series WandaVision, which explored her transformation into the Scarlet Witch, she hasn’t had a dedicated movie of her own. A solo film could draw from classic Marvel comics and finally give the character a chance to find redemption.

5) War Machine

War Machine has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the very first movie, making him one of the longest-running active heroes. Despite being a dedicated Avenger and fighting alongside other heroes for years, he hasn’t yet had his own solo film. The planned Armor Wars project was intended to change that, and it remains a highly anticipated MCU project that hasn’t been released.

4) Namor

Namor quickly established himself as one of the strongest villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Endgame, but he’s only appeared in one movie so far. He’s scheduled to return in Avengers: Doomsday, and a solo film for him would be a great addition to the MCU. His backstory in Marvel Comics is rich and interesting, and exploring it on screen would allow the MCU to tell a unique underwater story, different from anything we’ve seen before.

3) Vision

Vision debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2015 with Avengers: Age of Ultron and quickly became one of the MCU’s strongest heroes. Though he was killed in Avengers: Infinity War, his story continued in WandaVision. However, he hasn’t been prominently featured since. The upcoming VisionQuest series will bring him back, but despite being a popular character, Vision still hasn’t received his own dedicated movie in the MCU.

2) Sentry

Sentry made a strong first impression when he appeared in 2025’s Thunderbolts, quickly becoming known as one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has a vast and impressive range of abilities, and a deeply emotional and captivating backstory. While he has the potential to star in his own film, Sentry is a relatively new character to the MCU and hasn’t yet had the opportunity to lead his own story.

1) Bucky Barnes

As a huge MCU fan, I gotta say, Bucky Barnes has become a real favorite of mine. But it’s kinda crazy that, despite being around since the very beginning – Phase 1! – he’s always been a supporting character. He’s got so many awesome moments, and he’s seriously popular, which is why a solo Bucky movie is something fans have been dreaming about for ages. Honestly, it feels like it’s long overdue – he deserves his own spotlight!
