Star Wars Reveals One Order 66 Survivor Caused Massive Problems for Darth Maul (& We Don’t Mean Ahsoka)

As a huge Star Wars fan, I always found Order 66 incredibly devastating. It was Palpatine’s ultimate move to wipe out the Jedi, but it turns out it wasn’t completely successful. We knew Obi-Wan and Yoda survived, but Lucasfilm has slowly revealed that quite a few others made it through too! What’s really interesting is seeing how these Jedi rebuilt their lives after such a tragedy. Each new Star Wars story gives us a chance to meet more of these survivors and see how they found their way in the galaxy – some even ended up navigating the criminal underworld. It’s a really compelling part of the lore.

Mill Alibeth, a Zabrak Jedi trained by Anakin Skywalker, has a remarkable story of survival after the devastating Order 66. Alongside fellow Jedi survivor Vivert Stag, she became a bounty hunter during the time of the sequel trilogy, and they even tried to find Rey. But before that, they clashed with a different powerful Force user: Darth Maul. Their early adventures in the criminal underworld are explored in the novel Star Wars Outlaws: Low Red Moon.

Mill Alibeth Is Investigating Crimson Dawn in Low Red Moon

Low Red Moon tells the story of how Jaylen Vrax and his droid ND-5 met, acting as a backstory for the video game Star Wars Outlaws. The book also connects to broader Star Wars lore. Late in the story, Mill Alibeth—a character first introduced in Mike Chen’s Star Wars: Brotherhood—makes an appearance, showing readers how much her life has changed since she knew Anakin. Consistent with her dislike of violence, Mill now uses her Force powers to heal people. She and Vivert travel the galaxy providing medical care, even working with criminal groups to finance their efforts. In Low Red Moon, they are trying to steal a valuable bacta tank from the Hutts.

In Low Red Moon, Mill and Jaylen cross paths as they both investigate a member of Crimson Dawn, though for different motives. Jaylen wants to uncover secrets about his past, while Mill hopes to trade the operative for a prisoner. The operative, Vivert, has information the Hutts want, and Crimson Dawn has captured her. When the planned prisoner exchange falls through, Mill and Jaylen join forces to rescue Vivert from the Crimson Dawn base where she’s being held.

Mill apparently has a lot of information about this Crimson Dawn base, which fits with her experience. Given that she and Vivert sometimes need to collaborate with criminal organizations, it’s natural they’d research those groups to understand how they operate and be prepared for anything. Knowing the ins and outs of the galactic underworld is essential when dealing with syndicates, and Vivert and Mill are simply being careful and gathering information about potential allies.

I find it incredibly compelling that Maul is actually running the Crimson Dawn syndicate. It’s just wild to think a former Jedi is investigating a criminal empire led by an ex-Sith Lord! It really makes you wonder how someone like Mill, who despite leaving the Jedi Order still clearly wants to do good, would react if she found out someone so steeped in the dark side was pulling the strings. She only works with these groups because she feels she has to, but I can easily imagine her feeling obligated to try and take Maul down if she knew the truth about who was really in charge.

Star Wars Has a Great Opportunity to Develop Mill’s Crimson Dawn Investigation

As a fan, I’m really hoping we finally get to see Mill Alibeth on screen! Right now, she’s only appeared in books and comics, but the new animated series, Maul – Shadow Lord, seems like the perfect place to introduce her. It’s all about Maul building his criminal empire after the Clone Wars, and we already know Mill has connections to the underworld. I think the show could really expand on her story and her relationship with Vivert, showing us how they interact with those powerful criminal organizations. It would be amazing to see that dynamic brought to life!

Whether we see more of Mill’s story this year hinges on when the series Shadow Lord takes place. While its exact position in the Star Wars timeline isn’t confirmed, it’s believed to be just a few years after Order 66 – around 17 or 16 BBY. This might be a little early for Mill to be investigating crimes, as she was very young in Brotherhood (set in 22 BBY) and still a child when she survived Order 66. She’ll likely still be quite young when Shadow Lord begins. Mill and Vivert’s story starts in the third part of Low Red Moon, which takes place in 10 BBY – the same time period as the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story. By then, Mill is older and has gained significant experience navigating the galaxy.

Currently, only one season of ten episodes for Maul – Shadow Lord has been officially announced, but more seasons are possible. Other animated shows from Lucasfilm, like The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch, all continued for multiple seasons to fully develop their stories, and the same could happen with Shadow Lord. While Maul is already a well-known character in animation, this series explores a previously unseen part of his life. There’s a lot of story to tell, and the first season might only be a beginning. It’s also possible the show could jump forward in time, potentially allowing characters Mill and Vivert to appear.

Mill’s appearance in Shadow Lord should only happen if it naturally fits the story. Forcing her in just to please fans wouldn’t work well, as many viewers might not understand her importance since they haven’t read the Star Wars novels. If the show’s creators prefer to focus on new characters like Devon Izara, Mill and Vivert could continue their story in a comic book or novel. However, the potential for a Mill versus Maul storyline is too exciting to dismiss, so Lucasfilm should find a way to make it happen.
