Hunter x Hunter Reveals Surprise New Anime

Hunter x Hunter is considered one of the greatest action-adventure manga and anime series ever made, and Gon’s journey has connected with fans around the globe. Although the anime hasn’t had new episodes recently, the manga continues with occasional new chapters thanks to creator Yoshihiro Togashi. Togashi regularly updates fans on his work, making him the most-followed manga artist on social media. Now, in an exciting turn of events, Hunter x Hunter is back in anime form to celebrate a big release for fans of Gon and his friends.

The new mobile game, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Survivor, is now available on both Android and iOS. Unlike many anime-based mobile games that focus on collecting characters and turn-based battles, Nen x Survivor is an action game similar to Vampire Survivors. Players choose characters from the Hunter x Hunter series and battle waves of enemies. To enhance the game’s look and feel, Studio M2 has created a new anime short featuring Gon and his friends, which you can watch below.

Hunter x Hunter’s Anime Past & Future

Most fans are familiar with the Hunter x Hunter anime produced by Studio Madhouse, but it wasn’t the first adaptation. Back in 1999, Nippon Animation created a 62-episode series based on Yoshihiro Togashi’s popular manga. Nippon Animation is also known for classics like Future Boy Conan and Bucchigiri. Interestingly, they recently took a comedic approach to a popular franchise by creating animated shorts for Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake.

In 2011, the animation studio Madhouse produced a highly acclaimed version of Hunter x Hunter, with nearly 150 episodes. This adaptation covered the story up to the 13th Hunter Chairman Election Arc, showing what happened with the Hunters’ Guild after the intense Chimera Ant Arc. Currently, there are no plans for a new anime series, but fans are still hoping to see Gon and his friends back on television someday.

After the 2014 anime adaptation, the Hunter x Hunter manga has kept going with new adventures and stories. Currently, the manga is mainly following Kurapika and his involvement in a power struggle called the “Succession Contest Arc.” It’s been a long time since fans have seen Gon and Killua in the manga, and many are wondering when these two close friends will return.
