Line of Duty star offers cryptic response to question of season 7 return after key role last season

Fans of Line of Duty have a lot to look forward to this week! News came out yesterday, February 19th, that Robert Carlyle will be joining the show as a major guest star in the seventh season. He’s expected to play a particularly compelling character in the popular police drama.

A Scottish actor is joining Martin Compston, Vicky McClure, and Adrian Dunbar for the next season of the show. It’s been over five years since the last season aired, and some viewers were disappointed with how it ended.

Besides the main cast, will any other actors be returning for the show? We at TopMob spoke with Shalom Brune-Franklin, who plays DCI Chloe Bishop, at a film festival event in London. She didn’t seem surprised when we asked her about the show’s continuation.

She later said she was thrilled about the return of Jed Mercurio’s show, adding that there was a clear demand for it. She also spoke warmly about her experiences during the last season.

She exclaimed how much she enjoyed herself, calling it a dream come true. Having been a longtime fan of the show, she said being on set felt incredibly surreal, like actually stepping into the world she’d watched on television.

Once I arrived on set, I had to quickly calm down my excitement because it wasn’t very professional to still be starstruck while working. It was also a strange and unique experience filming during the COVID pandemic.

Brune-Franklin played DCI Bishop in Season 6 of Line of Duty, joining the AC-12 team and becoming central to the storyline. Fans would love to see her return to the show!
