The beloved classic arcade game, X-Men: The Arcade Game, is being released on PlayStation 5 with support for up to six players online, and features technology that ensures a smooth online experience.
This classic 1992 fighting game is highly regarded as one of the best in its class. It was briefly available on the PlayStation 3 in 2010, but was later removed from the digital store a few years after its release.
The game is being added to the Marvel MaXimum Collection, a new compilation of classic Marvel games released by Limited Run Games.
They are as follows:
- Captain America and the Avengers (Arcade, Genesis, NES)
- Silver Surfer (NES)
- Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade’s Revenge (SNES, Genesis, Game Gear, Game Boy)
- Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (SNES, Genesis)
- Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (SNES, Genesis)
- X-Men: The Arcade Game (Arcade)
With several publishers like LJN, Acclaim, and Konami all involved, securing the necessary licenses for this project must have been quite complicated.
There are also several missing titles that clearly belong on the list, such as SEGA’s Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin.
As a fan, I’m really excited about what they’re including – it seems like a really solid collection! They’re not just giving us the games as they were originally released, though. They’re adding some fantastic quality-of-life improvements, like being able to rewind gameplay and use save states whenever you want. That’s a huge win for players!
While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, Limited Run Games usually releases these collections quickly after announcing them, so expect it to be available soon.
