Okay, so last year’s Marty Supreme really blew everyone away. Critics loved it, and it absolutely killed at the box office – we’re talking a huge start to the year. It was a genuine phenomenon, and everyone was talking about it!
The movie, directed by Josh Safdie and starring Timothée Chalamet, tells the story of Marty Mauser, a fiercely determined ping pong player who is striving to become the best in American history.
Since it came out in December 2025, the movie has received numerous award nominations from leading organizations. These include 11 BAFTA nominations, three Critics Choice Awards, three SAG Awards, and nine nominations for the Academy Awards, which will be announced in mid-March.
Despite being a huge success, the film had a disappointing night at the BAFTAs, becoming the first ever to lose in all 11 categories it was up for. Hopefully, it will have more luck at the Oscars.
Okay, so everyone’s talking about this ping pong movie, Marty Supreme, and I really want to see what the hype is all about before awards season kicks into high gear. If you’re like me and haven’t made it to the theater yet, here’s how you can stream it online.
How to watch Marty Supreme – is it streaming?
Marty Supreme is available to watch at home but it’s not yet on a streaming service.
You can rent the movie on Apple TV or Prime Video for £15.99. If you’d like to own it permanently, it’s available for £19.99.

Although the movie came out in theaters two months ago, it’s still playing in a few cinemas because of its award nominations. However, it’s much easier to find and watch at home now.
If a new A24 film is a bit expensive, it usually becomes available on the streaming service Max after a few months. Fortunately, Max is launching in the UK in March, so UK viewers won’t have to wait too long.
What is Marty Supreme about?
Marty Supreme is a fictional story inspired by the life of table tennis player Marty Reisman. Although Timothée Chalamet portrays Marty and the story includes elements of his life, it’s not a strict or completely accurate biography.
The movie centers on Chalamet’s character and his determined, though sometimes reckless, quest to become the best table tennis player in America. He gives up his job selling shoes and everything else in his life to raise money and travel to the championships in Tokyo, Japan.
This behavior causes friction with his friends, family, and girlfriend, but also leads to new connections, particularly with aging film star Kay Stone (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) and her husband.
The movie’s energy matches the main character’s – it’s quick, chaotic, and never slows down, reflecting Marty’s hurried and confident personality.
Marty Supreme cast: Who stars alongside Timothée Chalamet?
Timothée Chalamet stars as the main character, and he’s joined by Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, and Kevin O’Leary in supporting roles.
Timothée Chalamet, who earned a Golden Globe and several nominations for his performance, wasn’t the only one recognized. A’zion also received nominations from the Actor Awards and a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress.
