The newest Resident Evil game, Resident Evil Requiem, is available this week, and it delivers the unpredictable story fans expect. The game is full of intriguing secrets and unexpected turns, making it a fun experience throughout. Interestingly, Requiem breaks from recent games in the series by offering players multiple different endings.
Want to know how Resident Evil Requiem ends? Here’s a complete explanation of both the “Bad” ending and the “True” ending. Be careful – from here on, we’re going to reveal major spoilers for Requiem!
Resident Evil Requiem’s Bad Ending Is Going to Terrorize Fans

By the end of Resident Evil Requiem, Leon and Grace are trapped inside Ark, a lab where Umbrella Corporation is developing a new virus called Elpis. Throughout the story, the villains Victor Gideon and Zeno are trying to get Elpis, and they think Grace holds the key to finding it.
Grace finally reaches the computer controlling Elpis and is asked for a password. Entering the wrong password would destroy the entire Ark. Leon convinces Grace to destroy Elpis rather than let Zeno get to it. She follows his advice and deliberately enters an incorrect password, causing the facility to start falling apart.

In the midst of the confusion, Grace manages to get away from Zeno while Leon tries to fight him. However, Zeno is much stronger than Leon and quickly overpowers him, ultimately shooting and killing the beloved Resident Evil hero as the ground beneath them collapses. Grace witnesses this from a distance, screaming in despair. She eventually escapes the Ark, but is devastated by Leon’s death.
If the way this story ends seems hard to believe, that’s intentional. The “Bad” ending in Resident Evil Requiem likely isn’t the official one. It’s actually a bit strange to even have it in the game, considering the game heavily encourages players to save Elpis instead of destroying it. However, if you’re looking for a chaotic conclusion to Requiem, this ending certainly delivers.
Resident Evil Requiem’s True Ending Is Much More Satisfying

If Grace decides to free Elpis instead of destroying it, Zeno quickly obtains a sample. Without understanding what it is, he immediately injects it into himself, and his powers start to fade. Grace then explains that Elpis wasn’t a new weapon, but a cure created by Oswell Spencer to make amends for the damage he caused.
As the situation unfolds, Victor Gideon arrives and reveals they never understood the true nature of Elpis. Spencer’s hidden documents kept its purpose a mystery, leaving everyone to speculate. Gideon quickly kills Zeno by decapitating him. Meanwhile, Leon takes a different approach, injecting himself with Elpis to finally overcome a life-threatening infection.
Gideon, still determined to get Elpis, confronts Leon and Grace. This leads to another fight with Leon, during which Gideon transforms into a creature resembling an evolved Nemesis. Though Gideon is incredibly powerful, Leon, now fully recovered, defeats him, finally resolving the conflict.

So, I just took down Gideon, and things were looking pretty bleak. Me and Grace were trapped inside Ark as it started shutting down, and honestly, we figured we were done for. We’d accepted our fate, thinking we were going to be stuck there forever. But then, just as all the lights went out, a rescue team showed up! It was the Hound Wolf Squad from the BSAA, led by Chris Redfield himself! They saved us just in the nick of time!
Okay, so I’m out here in the ruins of Raccoon City, and I got in touch with Sherry. Good news – I’ve got a vial of Elpis that should cure her! I also let her know Chris isn’t at Ark yet, but I’m pretty sure we’ll run into him soon. Then I told Grace that there’s still hope for Emily, that little girl Grace was trying to get out of Rhodes Hill hospital with. Elpis might be able to save her, which is a huge relief.
At the end of the game, Grace shares her research with the FBI and makes it available to the public. We also learn that Emily has recovered from the virus and is now living with Grace, who has taken on a motherly role. Finally, Chris Redfield and his team return to the Ark facility, but their reason for going back remains a mystery.
