Rihanna is always putting in the work, work, work, work, work.
Her recent Instagram video, showcasing a typical busy day where she often starts working after 9 p.m., has sparked hope among fans that she’s finally working on the new music they’ve been eagerly anticipating. It seems things are becoming more focused.
In a video released on February 26th, Rihanna starts her evening by meeting with her Fenty team. However, it was a casual remark she made during the meeting that got fans hoping for something more.
“I need to head to the studio right after this,” she told her team. “Then I’ve got to make a Mardi Gras costume for my son.”
Shortly after 2:00 AM—right as Rihanna crosses out “sleep”—the video cuts to a montage of her working in the studio. We see her adjusting the soundboard, writing in a notebook, and dancing to music we can’t hear.
The tease was enough for fans to speculate about what’s to come from the studio session.
One fan commented, simply saying “I see Studio????????,” while another excitedly wrote, “SHE IS COMING BACK!”
Rihanna didn’t say anything more about new music. Instead, at 6:45 a.m., she focused on being a mom, starting with a DIY project – adding fringe to a blazer. Then, she took her two-year-old son, Riot, to school, and they both showed off their Mardi Gras costumes.
It’s been almost ten years since Rihanna released her last album, Anti, and her fans are eagerly awaiting her ninth studio album. She’s previously explained the reasons for the delay, acknowledging it’s taken longer than both she and her fans anticipated.
As it turned out, she hadn’t been satisfied with the new music she’d come up with so far.
Rihanna explained to Harper’s Bazaar that she felt strongly against something, saying, ‘It just didn’t feel like me, and it didn’t fit where I was headed.’ She realized she couldn’t support or perform it during a year-long tour because it didn’t align with her personal and artistic growth.
She explained that after being away from music for a while, she wanted to make sure her next project was truly meaningful. She felt her time away needed to result in something significant for listeners – something that really mattered.
Rihanna understands fans are eager for new music, but she believes it’s worth waiting for a finished project everyone will enjoy.
“After waiting eight years,” she quipped, “you might as well just wait some more.”
Everyone knows Rihanna is a talented singer, but her and A$AP Rocky’s children haven’t yet experienced their parents’ music. A$AP Rocky, who has been with Rihanna since 2020, says he wants to make sure his kids appreciate how incredible their parents are.
He explained to GQ in a recent interview that his children don’t ask to hear his older songs. He added that they’re currently too young to even understand the idea of having well-known parents.
