So, I’ve been hearing this really strange rumor that PlayStation might stop releasing their single-player games on PC, which is a bummer if true! Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said we’ll hear more details soon, but a really trustworthy insider, NateTheHate, already shared some info about it.
PlayStation players on PC will likely see fewer single-player games released in the future. While some ports already in development may still arrive, Sony doesn’t seem to be prioritizing PC releases of single-player titles anymore.
Kojima Productions’ latest PlayStation exclusive, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is now available on PC. Because Kojima Productions owns the game itself, they have more control over where it’s released. While PlayStation is publishing the PC version, the porting is being handled by Nixxes Software.
The change in strategy might be because some of its games haven’t done as well as expected, like Returnal and LEGO Horizon Adventures. Even the popular Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 didn’t perform as strongly as Spider-Man Remastered. Despite this, the company is still moving forward with its plans for ongoing, live-service games, with Horizon Hunters Gathering scheduled to launch on both PS5 and PC simultaneously.
It’s likely we won’t see Saros or Marvel’s Wolverine on PC for a while, though we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds. Keep an eye out for more updates.
Sony is planning to release fewer games designed for single players on PC in the future. This decision was made last year, and while some games already in development for PC may still be released, it’s no longer a main focus for the company.
