From the start, The Avengers have been promoted as Marvel’s strongest heroes, and fans expect their comics to deliver on that promise. The team was originally formed to unite the most well-known heroes and challenge them with the universe’s biggest dangers. The comics are designed to be full of exciting action, featuring conflicts with villains too powerful for any single hero and creating the high-stakes drama that comes from bringing together Marvel’s biggest characters. Essentially, The Avengers comics are all about epic battles, and the team has been involved in some of the most memorable fights in comic book history.
Throughout the history of the Avengers, both heroes and villains with incredible fighting skills have joined or opposed the team. These characters are considered the most skilled combatants in Avengers comics, capable of taking on any opponent.
10) Ultron

The Avengers are up against incredibly dangerous enemies, and Ultron is among the most threatening. He’s not a nimble, skilled fighter, but a massively powerful robot unlike anything Earth has seen. Ultron possesses immense strength, can go toe-to-toe with even the strongest Avengers, and his incredibly durable adamantium armor makes him exceptionally hard to defeat. He’s heavily armed, relentlessly aggressive, and simply a destructive force – a tireless, deadly warrior who can withstand any attack and just keep coming.
9) Daredevil

While Daredevil is more famous for his solo adventures, he was actually an Avenger for a period in the early 2010s. There was a lot of anticipation – and speculation, correctly guessed by fans – that he’d be a founding member of the New Avengers, even before the Siege event. It was well-known that the writer of Daredevil, Brian Michael Bendis, was also writing the New Avengers, and Daredevil appeared prominently in the first few issues. Ultimately, he joined the team after Siege. Matt Murdock is an incredibly skilled fighter, consistently overcoming opponents who should be far beyond his capabilities. He proved to be a fantastic Avenger, quickly establishing himself as one of the team’s most formidable combatants.
8) Moon Knight

Moon Knight is a well-known Marvel character, though not always a top star. He’s a complex hero with multiple personalities and a reputation for being one of New York City’s most forceful vigilantes. Moon Knight frequently battles dangerous enemies and is known as a particularly fierce fighter. He’s both highly skilled and physically strong, but often seen as unpredictable. Throughout the years, he’s been a member of various Avengers teams, bringing a chaotic and all-out fighting style to every battle.
7) Shang-Chi

Shang-Chi is an incredibly skilled martial artist – it’s almost like having a superpower. He’s spent years working as both a spy and a superhero, battling powerful enemies and even teaming up with famous heroes. While he was briefly an Avenger during a dangerous time, he didn’t have any powers of his own. Iron Man helped him by creating special equipment so he could keep up with the team, but Shang-Chi’s fighting ability was always exceptional – he just needed a little extra support.
6) Wolverine

Okay, let me tell you about Wolverine. This guy? He’s a fighting machine, plain and simple. Seriously, Logan’s been in battles since he was a teenager and has become a total legend. He doesn’t just brawl; he’s trained in everything – martial arts, military tactics, espionage… you name it, he knows it. And forget weapons – he’s mastered them all. But what really sets him apart is his ability to just keep going. That healing factor combined with that adamantium skeleton? It makes him practically unstoppable. He can take a serious beating and still come back swinging. He’s gone toe-to-toe with some of the biggest threats the universe has thrown at us, fighting alongside the X-Men and the Avengers, and honestly, it’s clear he’s one of the greatest fighters out there.
5) Hercules

Hercules, the son of Zeus, has been fighting evil for thousands of years. He’s incredibly skilled in ancient Greek and Roman combat, including wrestling and weapon use. His immense strength combined with his long experience makes him a powerful member of the Avengers. While sometimes compared to Thor, Hercules is a uniquely capable fighter who can go toe-to-toe with almost anyone and often win.
4) Thor

Thor, the God of Thunder, is a seasoned warrior who has been fighting evil for centuries, much like Hercules. He’s battled all kinds of creatures – elves, trolls, giants, demons, and dragons – and consistently protected the ten realms. A master of combat, Thor faces armies of enemies with ease. While his godly powers give him an advantage, it’s his extensive experience and fighting skill that truly make him a formidable opponent. He can easily defeat most enemies with sheer strength, and even the strongest opponents struggle to match his skill. Thor is one of the team’s strongest and most capable fighters.
3) Taskmaster

Taskmaster is an incredibly skilled fighter thanks to his unique ability: photographic reflexes. He can perfectly copy the fighting styles of anyone he observes. This allows him to mimic the techniques of heroes like Hawkeye, Captain America, and even Thor, making him a dangerous opponent. While he can’t gain their actual superpowers, his ability to quickly learn and replicate fighting skills after watching someone – and he’s watched everyone – makes him one of the most powerful fighters in comics.
2) Kang the Conqueror

Kang the Conqueror is a major threat to the Avengers and one of the most formidable fighters in the entire Marvel Multiverse. Driven to become history’s greatest conqueror, he travels through time, defeating opponents and collecting the weapons and skills necessary for victory. He’s defeated countless heroes and villains across alternate realities, learning how to overcome even the most powerful warriors. Although he doesn’t always win, Kang is an incredibly skilled fighter.
1) Captain America

Captain America is one of the Avengers’ most skilled fighters. While teammates like Wolverine, Thor, and Hercules have more experience, and he doesn’t know as many martial arts as Shang-Chi or fight with the same unpredictable style as Moon Knight, he’s still incredibly proficient. He excels at both offense and defense, and is a natural leader. Driven by his strong belief in freedom, Captain America has become a truly formidable and arguably the best fighter of them all.
