Fans of Game of Thrones are finding a new fantasy series to love. The show is quickly becoming popular on Starz, just before its last season begins.
According to FlixPatrol, Outlander has been gaining popularity, recently reaching #3 on the Starz Top 10 TV Shows chart. It had been consistently at #7 and then #6 for the past week. With the new season premiering on Starz on March 6th, now is a great time for both longtime fans and newcomers to catch up on this historical romance.
Outlander’s Gripping Story Beautifully Blends History & Fantasy
I absolutely love Outlander! It starts with this incredible woman, a WWII nurse trying to build a life with her husband after the war. But then, boom – she’s unexpectedly thrown back in time to 1743 Scotland! Suddenly, she’s right in the middle of a really fascinating and dangerous period in history, all tied up with the Jacobite rebellion. It’s a wild ride!
When Claire is unexpectedly transported to the past, she falls for Jamie Fraser, a rugged Highland warrior. As they grow closer, Claire discovers Jamie has a troubled history, and she finds herself torn between him and her former life, caught in a passionate but complicated love triangle.
The TV show Outlander is adapted from the book series of the same name, with each season covering a different section of the story. The eighth and final season will draw from Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone and also include material from the tenth book in the series, currently titled A Blessing for a Warrior Going Out.
Outlander’s Success Spawned a Successful Prequel
Since it first aired in 2014, Outlander has been a consistent hit for Starz. Critics and viewers alike love the show, as evidenced by its impressive scores on Rotten Tomatoes: an average of 90% from critics and 85% from the audience across all eight seasons. The first five seasons have been officially certified as ‘Fresh’ by the review site, with praise consistently given to its stunning visuals and the strong connection between the lead actors.
Like the hit show Game of Thrones, Outlander has been so popular on Starz that the network commissioned spin-off and prequel series over ten years after the original show premiered. Outlander: Blood of My Blood launched on Starz on August 8, 2025, offering fans a closer look at the love story of Jamie and Claire’s parents. This means that even though the main Outlander series is nearing its conclusion, fans will still have more stories to look forward to.
You can now watch Outlander on Starz. The eighth season will begin streaming on March 6th, with new episodes released every week until May 8th.
