The upcoming game, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf, will launch on March 5th, and developer Wishfully has shared details about how it will perform on consoles. According to an interview with GamingBolt, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will run at 4K resolution with a frame rate of 60 frames per second. Players will also be able to adjust the settings to focus on either visual quality or smoother performance.
The Xbox Series S will play Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf at 1440p resolution with a frame rate of 60 frames per second. The Nintendo Switch 2 will run the game at 720p/60 FPS when played handheld, and 1080p/60 FPS when connected to a TV. Because the game is a 2D side-scrolling puzzle platformer, the developers at Wishfully have stated that there won’t be any special improvements for the PlayStation 5 Pro.
If you didn’t play the first Planet of Lana, don’t worry! According to Adam Stjärnljus, the creative and co-game director, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf is designed to be easy for new players to pick up and enjoy, even without prior knowledge of the story. It continues the original game’s narrative, but you won’t feel lost if you’re starting fresh.
The game Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf was revealed in June 2025 and will be available on current gaming consoles, as well as older systems like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Nintendo Switch.
This game continues the story of Lana and Mui, building on the original Planet of Lana. While their world isn’t facing immediate danger, many hidden secrets remain to be uncovered. Players will embark on a grand adventure, exploring icy mountains, vast oceans, and ancient ruins.
I’m really excited about Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf! From what I’ve seen, it’s going to be just as beautiful as the first game, with that incredible hand-painted art style. And just like the original, there won’t be any spoken dialogue – the characters will communicate through a unique, alien language. It sounds like the story will be told mostly through the visuals, music, and this language, which I think is a really cool approach!
Wishfully recently shared a gameplay trailer showcasing Wemari, a beautiful new forest area. The trailer highlighted that success in the game depends on the player’s ability to solve puzzles and their eagerness to explore. Although the main character, Lana, frequently needs to hide from enemies, she can also use her companion, Mui, and Mui’s special skills to interact with and utilize the environment to her advantage.
Originally released on PC and Xbox consoles in 2023, Planet of Lana became available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch in 2024. We loved the game, giving it a 9 out of 10 in our review. We were particularly impressed by its beautiful graphics, clever puzzles, and engaging story. Our main criticism was that the game sometimes felt like it had too many puzzles.
