Be warned, this article reveals major plot points from Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 7. Even though the Multiverse Saga in the MCU is nearing its end with movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Daredevil: Born Again has just introduced a brand new team of superheroes. Matt Murdock has been actively trying to assemble a group of vigilantes to help him battle Kingpin and the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF).
While looking for new allies, Charlie Cox has unexpectedly reunited with several actors from the old Netflix Marvel shows. Though there are some new faces, like Angela del Toro playing White Tiger, the latest episodes suggest Daredevil relies most on his long-standing friendships.
Daredevil: Born Again Is Bringing The Defenders Back Together
Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones was set to have a significant role in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, sparking rumors that other members of The Defenders might also appear in the series. This came after the team’s storylines were abruptly concluded in the Marvel shows on Netflix.
Luke Cage is working for Mr. Charles, which became clear when Jessica questioned him about her partner. Meanwhile, Danny Rand hasn’t appeared in the show at all. But recent photos from the set of Daredevil: Born Again season 3 show both Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand) filming scenes with Jessica Ritter, suggesting they’ll both be in the new season.
While a full Defenders reunion probably won’t happen next season, several actors from the team have been confirmed to appear. This suggests a plan to eventually bring The Defenders into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, adding them to the expanding group of heroes we’re seeing throughout the Multiverse Saga.
Avengers: Doomsday Will See Several Superhero Teams Collide
Avengers: Doomsday promises to be a massive cinematic event, bringing together a huge cast of characters – many of whom have already been confirmed, and even more surprises on the way. To prepare audiences for the film, Marvel has been introducing various teams that will join forces – and clash – before facing off against Doctor Doom.
The original Avengers team will see some familiar faces return, like Thor and Steve Rogers. Plus, a new Avengers team is forming with Sam Wilson leading the charge as Captain America. And, the heroes from the recent Thunderbolts movie are also joining forces as a separate group called The New Avengers.
The Avengers will be joined by heroes from alternate universes, like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, who were introduced in a recent Marvel movie but come from Earth-828. Other teams, such as The Young Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy, are also possibilities. With so many new characters potentially appearing, it seems doubtful that The Defenders will be included in Avengers: Doomsday.
The Street Level Heroes Have Dominated The Multiverse Saga
Although it doesn’t seem likely that the street-level heroes from The Defenders will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, the Multiverse Saga has been great for characters like them. We’ve already seen Daredevil join the MCU, and Spider-Man is now focusing on local, neighborhood-level adventures. Plus, new heroes like Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight have also been introduced, each with their own individual stories.
The recently announced film, Avengers: Doomsday, is a direct sequel to Avengers: Endgame. This suggests the events of the broader Multiverse Saga might not significantly affect its plot. However, it also opens up possibilities for the new characters introduced to have their own storylines that aren’t necessarily tied to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With The Defenders now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s uncertain what their future holds, especially considering the potential effects of the Avengers: Doomsday storyline. Season 3, expected in 2027, might provide a path for these characters to transition from Daredevil: Born Again and potentially appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, though this is just a guess at this point.
