With hits like Suspicious Partner, Vincenzo, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and The Good Bad Mother, Netflix consistently delivers popular legal K-dramas. The streaming service releases these soon-to-be classics every few years, showcasing the depth of K-dramas and proving there’s more to offer than just romance and suspense.
Netflix isn’t just great for romantic comedies; it also has a fantastic selection of K-dramas about the supernatural. While shows featuring ghosts and spirits are common, some truly shine. Currently, Netflix’s new series, Phantom Lawyer, which cleverly combines legal drama with the supernatural, is getting a lot of buzz, and it’s a great time to start watching.
Netflix’s Best New Legal Drama Just Dropped Its Finale
The final two episodes of Phantom Lawyer are now available on Netflix! The series premiered on March 13, 2026, and with Episode 16, the show has officially concluded. Now is a great time to watch all sixteen episodes and enjoy the complete series.
I’m completely hooked on Phantom Lawyer! It stars Yoo Yeon-seok – you might recognize him from that awesome Netflix series earlier this year – and the premise is just so clever. It’s about a lawyer, Shin I-rang, who starts seeing ghosts after moving into an old office space. At first, he’s pretty freaked out, but he ends up helping these spirits figure out who they were and move on, and sometimes even takes their cases to court! It’s a really unique and engaging show.
Although these ghosts can offer vital clues and information, it’s up to I-rang to gather proof that will actually hold up in court, and to keep his powers a secret. The show follows a ‘monster of the week’ format, focusing on a different ghost every two episodes. This allows for a variety of stories to be told quickly, while keeping each case self-contained and engaging.
Phantom Lawyer Is Netflix’s Most Subversive Hit of 2026
At first, the idea behind Phantom Lawyer doesn’t seem particularly special, but that’s actually what makes the show so good. Despite dealing with serious and often dark cases, Phantom Lawyer is surprisingly funny. A big part of the humor comes from the fact that I-rang gets possessed by the ghosts of his clients – who range from gangsters and teenage girls to young boys and elderly shoemakers with memory loss. This leads to some incredibly funny moments, like seeing I-rang dance like a K-pop trainee to the song “Love Dive” or suddenly speaking like an old-school gangster.
Despite avoiding clichés, Phantom Lawyer sometimes attempts humor that misses the mark, ironically making it more impactful. The show surprisingly delivers genuine emotional moments, focusing on the regrets of those who have passed and the grief of those left behind. While exploring themes of loss – particularly through the characters of Shin I-rang and Han Na-hyun – it manages to do so without becoming overly dramatic or depressing.
Beyond the intriguing plot, Phantom Lawyer is beautifully written, quickly making viewers care about each ghost and their story in just two hours. The script and dialogue are excellent, particularly those delivered by Lee Deok-hwa, who plays the shoemaker Kang Dong-sik, suffering from Alzheimer’s. In a poignant scene near the end, I-rang asks Dong-sik how much he remembers, and he replies that remembering his wife is all that truly matters.
The series concludes with the expected courtroom drama. Phantom Lawyer also features plenty of action and doesn’t shy away from darker, more violent moments, particularly when a supernatural client is murdered. I-rang’s final case promises to be deeply personal, and the show is building towards a spectacular finale after a fantastic first season. Hopefully, Netflix will renew Phantom Lawyer for another season soon.
