Millions of players are revisiting Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed, games first released for Game Boy Advance in 2004. Because the internet was very different back then, many Pokémon fans are now discovering hidden details and secrets in these beloved classics that they never knew before.
A recent viral post on X (formerly Twitter) is revealing a hidden secret in the original Pokémon games that many fans are only now discovering. While some longtime players may already know about it, it’s new information for a lot of people. The post has already been viewed over 800,000 times.
Snorlax Secret
In Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed, after defeating Snorlax, you can use the Dowsing Machine on the spot where it was sleeping. This will give you Leftovers, a helpful item that slowly restores your Pokémon’s health – about 1/16 of their total HP. You can find Leftovers at both locations where Snorlax appears.
One Pokémon fan expressed shock at recently discovering this secret after being a fan for over 20 years. Another fan commented that even as someone who grew up with the series, it’s surprising to still learn new things decades later, highlighting how much more there is to discover.
It used to be easy to miss hidden details in the original games without a guide, which is why many Pokémon fans are only now discovering them. Since a lot of fans were kids when the games first came out, it’s not surprising they’re learning about these secrets with the recent releases on Nintendo Switch.
You can now play Pokemon LeafGreen and FireRed on the Nintendo Switch for $20. These versions are exclusive to the Switch; there isn’t a separate version for any other console, though the games work on the newest Nintendo console through backwards compatibility. A Nintendo Switch Online subscription isn’t required to play, which is different from many other Game Boy Advance titles that need the subscription service.
