‘Sony Finally Understands’: Over 70% of PS5 Fans Agree with Decision to Scrap PC Ports

The PlayStation 5 community often has strong disagreements, but there’s a surprising consensus: most fans agree with Sony’s decision to stop releasing its games on PC.

A recent Bloomberg report suggests PlayStation will stop releasing its major exclusive games on platforms like Steam. However, they plan to continue publishing games with ongoing services, such as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, on other platforms.

A recent Push Square poll showed that most of our readers (71%) agree with PlayStation’s decision to stop releasing PC ports. Only 22% believe it was the wrong choice, and another 7% are undecided.

It’s important to remember this data isn’t necessarily representative of everyone. It comes from Push Square readers, who are mostly dedicated PS5 fans. We’d likely see different results if we surveyed a different audience, like those who read PC Gamer.

Look, as a PlayStation gamer who spends a good chunk of money on PS Plus and buying games digitally through the PS Store, I think Sony really needs to listen to what we, the hardcore fans, think. We’re the ones who are keeping them afloat, honestly – we’re a big part of what makes PlayStation profitable.

As a longtime fan, it’s been tough to watch lately. It feels like this company, a real icon, has been losing what made it special. It’s like they’re spreading themselves too thin and aren’t focusing on what originally made us all love them. It’s great to see so many other fans feeling the same way – we all want them to get back to their roots!

Now that big, story-driven games like Ghost of Yotei and Saros are only available on PlayStation 5, the console’s worth is clear.

Sony didn’t make this decision just because fans wanted something different. They likely have solid data showing that continuing with the current plan isn’t financially or practically worthwhile.

For the last few years, PC versions of the game have only brought in about 1.5% of the company’s total earnings. Most of its record-high revenue comes from its own gaming platform and related services.

It seems the platform owner has decided on a direction and will likely prioritize its own system for the time being, though they could change their mind later.
