SLOMW’s Jessi Draper Says She Looks “Hideous” Post–Plastic Surgery

Jessi Draper Ngatikaura is sharing an update on her plastic surgery results.

The star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives recently shared details about her recovery from several cosmetic surgeries, including eyelid surgery to remove excess skin and a fat grafting procedure to add volume to her face. However, she expressed disappointment with the results.

In a TikTok video posted on March 6th, she expressed her disappointment with the outcome of her surgery. She admitted she wasn’t fully aware of what the procedure entailed when she agreed to it. She initially went in for lower eyelid surgery, and then, after discussing upper eyelid surgery with the surgeon, she also had that done. She specifically stated she didn’t want fat grafting, but went along with a suggestion without fully understanding the process, potential results, or recovery period.

She admitted she regretted not speaking up more. “I wish I had asked more questions and hadn’t gone along with it,” she said. “I should have just said no.”

Jessi explained that fillers were injected into her lips without her consent, and she hadn’t asked for them. This resulted in her lips looking uneven and bumpy.

To improve how her face looked after a previous procedure, the 33-year-old received Kybella injections. Kybella, as described by the Mayo Clinic, is used to reduce fat under the chin and create a slimmer facial profile.

The reality TV star, who shares five-year-old Jagger and three-year-old Jovi with her husband Jordan Ngatikaura, also revealed that the surgeries have been difficult for her emotionally.

She admitted she’s been going through a difficult time, saying she believes her recent surgery negatively impacted her life. Regarding her appearances in the upcoming season of Mormon Wives, she expressed deep dissatisfaction with how she looks, stating she feels ‘hideous’ due to facial swelling and changes in her appearance. She said she doesn’t recognize herself and is unhappy with the results.

She had plastic surgery hoping to feel better about herself, but now she actually prefers the way she looked before.

She admitted she used to struggle with low self-esteem. Looking back, she realizes those insecurities clouded her judgment, and she couldn’t recognize her own worth. She’s glad she can acknowledge her beauty now, something she couldn’t do a few months ago, but unfortunately, those insecurities led her to make some regrettable choices.

Honestly, hearing her say that just hit me. It’s like she finally realized what I’ve known all along – she’s gorgeous, but she spent so much time worrying about tiny imperfections! She joked she’s done with touching her face except for Botox, which, okay, relatable, but it’s deeper than that. She wishes she’d seen her own beauty sooner, and I’m just…so glad she’s getting there. It’s like the biggest lesson of her life, and honestly, it feels like a lesson for me too. I’ll never look at beauty the same way again.

You know, as someone who’s spent years observing and advising on personal style and wellbeing, I often think about authenticity. I recently shared with Allure that when I meet someone who seems truly unburdened by expectations, I almost envy them. I used to be so caught up in believing my worth – my very survival, even – depended on being considered attractive to men. It’s a mindset I’ve thankfully moved past, but it’s a powerful reminder of how easily we can lose sight of ourselves.

She acknowledged she might eventually get back to being more productive, but it wasn’t a priority for her at the moment.

I’ve been following her journey for years, and it’s amazing to see how confident she is. She had a Brazilian butt lift and tummy tuck back in 2016, and just recently, in December 2024, she had another tummy tuck, plus liposuction and a breast reduction. She’s really embraced taking care of herself, and I admire her for it!

A month later, she spoke candidly about wrestling with her body image.

As a parent, one of my biggest fears is my children developing unhealthy body image issues. Honestly, it breaks my heart to think they might feel so much pressure to be thin that they’d consider drastic, permanent changes. While I’m not against someone getting a little cosmetic work – maybe a nose job or breast augmentation if that’s what makes them happy – I truly believe pushing your body to dangerous extremes just to be skinny is a sign of a deeper struggle. I say this with all the respect in the world to anyone who is going through that; it’s a really tough battle, and I hope they can find healthy ways to feel good about themselves.

Let’s talk about something a lot of us deal with – that little extra under the chin! I recently decided to do something about mine – we jokingly call it the ‘turkey gobbler’ because it’s a family trait. Honestly, I’ve struggled with it for years. No matter how healthy I ate or how much I worked out, I always felt self-conscious about it. So, I decided to address it, and I’m sharing my journey in the hopes it might resonate with others who feel the same way. I talked about it all on my podcast, When Reality Hits, this past March.

Oh my god, it’s just… she actually said it! She was talking about how everything’s been removed, and then she dropped this insane story! Apparently, before the ‘Applause’ video, a friend – a photographer, can you believe it? – basically threatened her! He told her, and I’m paraphrasing because, wow, the language, he said if she didn’t stop with… well, whatever she was doing to her face, he would just… kill her! It’s so intense, but it shows how worried people were for her back then. I’ve heard whispers, but to hear her say it… it’s just a lot.

I own all of my choices, and they’ve led me to this point. I’m not dwelling on the past.
